The California Superior Court has issued a narrow temporary restraining order preventing the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), a pro-life group, from releasing further undercover video footage taken of three top-level staff of StemExpress.
CMP is the organization behind the series of three videos released over the past three weeks exposing the alleged harvesting and sale of body parts from aborted babies by Planned Parenthood – body parts that are then purchased by StemExpress.
CMP has alleged that the fees paid by StemExpress to Planned Parenthood violate federal law prohibiting the sale and trafficking of human tissue.
While Planned Parenthood has claimed that the fees paid to them by StemExpress merely cover their costs, and fall within the bounds of the law, the video footage released so far has appeared to show Planned Parenthood employees seeking profit as part of the transaction.
The Associated Press, which broke the news about the court order, reports that the undercover videos of the Stem Express staff were filmed at a restaurant in May.
It is unclear how just significant an impact the court order will have on the release of subsequent videos in the series. David Daleiden, the lead researcher with CMP, has said that at least nine more videos are slated for release.
The restraining order reportedly only pertains to the footage of the Stem Express employees, meaning that any other footage, including that featuring Planned Parenthood employees, can still be released as planned.
CMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a statement released today, StemExpress stated that they sought the restraining order "on the grounds that CMP and Daleiden violated California’s anti-wiretapping law under Penal Code § 632 (Invasion of Privacy Act)."
"We will continue to pursue all available legal remedies against CMP and Daleiden," said the company.
In a statement responding to the court order, CMP accused Stem Express of using “meritless litigation” to "cover-up this illegal baby parts trade, suppress free speech, and silence the citizen press reporting on issues of burning concern to the American public.”
The pro-life group stated that an initial petition by Stem Express was rejected by the court, while their second petition, the one just granted, “was eviscerated to a narrow and contingent order about an alleged recording pending CMP’s opportunity to respond.”
CMP restated that the organization “follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work and will contest all attempts from Planned Parenthood and their allies to silence our First Amendment rights and suppress investigative journalism.”
The AP reports that the restraining order will remain in place until a hearing on Aug. 19.

Judicial fiat and the law are two different things
it would be a darned shame if someone else “stole” the videos and they released them.
The left is full of hypocrites. I never remember them reacting like this to liberal “60 minutes” reports.
If at some point a majority Americans do as you promote “I don’t care what the courts say.”, we shall be at the end of the Constitution and in anarchy (can you say libertarian?)
The liberals did not gain the upper hand with liberal courts over-night, the way to counter them is to fast track such liberal and wrong decisions to the SCOTUS. Thus far the SCOTUS have still ruled mostly in favor of what we consider is truly right
If the SCOTUS then continually goes against the Constitution and what is clearly right, then will be the time for the people taking the Constitution with them as they walk away from the divide and restart under the original Constitution, R2.
Is not the “recording’ prohibition requiring that any person involved in the conversation can legally record. Don’t think it requires ALL parties to be made aware.
Recordings where none of the conversation participants are aware of being recorded, requires a court order.
This court order granting cover for the purchasers of illegal baby parts will be overturned. The axe against the necks of these baby butchers has begun its swing.
We are already in the era of officially imposed anarchy of the cultural Marxists. Abortion homicide by the millions is the epitome of anarchy. Roe v Wade removed the protection of the law from a whole class of human beings. It is actually the antithesis of law, all done with the imprimatur of and under the purported authority of the law.

But we must keep up hope and hard work. America has a history of pendulum swings, this one has to be peaking.
I don’t buy into the pendulum theory. I think it is a red herring. I have been observing a slow but steady descent into the maelstrom since 1973. And I do not know what the remedy is.
All I know is, politically speaking, we have seen conservative times, liberal times, more than once each on roughly 80 years peak to peak.
In the scheme of human history, 80 years is a very short time.
Each liberal or low-liberty cycle has ended when those in control over-reached to the point the masses recognized it and threw it off. In the past 20 years the liberals have overreached with more and more recognizing the over-reach to now many are ready to rebel. This (hopefully) ending liberal cycle began with Teddy Roosevelt and will end with nobama.
I wish I could be as optimistic as you. I do not see any sort of “built-in” politically self-correcting counterbalance to how far left we have gone. “We” are not even “we” anymore. Our borders are wide open, Christians are under attack, whites are under attack, a man can marry a man, pieces of murdered infants are a commodity, there is a dingy rainbow hut upon the hill, monuments to time-honored heroic Americans are being desecrated, the Confederate flag is being trashed, pure unadulterated shit is being taught to our drugged children, sharia law has gained a foothold on our soil, we don’t trust each other or anybody else. Are policemen good or bad? No one knows anymore. Our Military?.........¡Ay, caramba! Nothing that happened to build this once great and proud country ever actually happened. We are so PC we choke on our words. The SCOTUS is bought and sold. Congress is bought and sold. Unseen shadowy powers control everything. So much has been lost it can never be regained. I knew America, America was a friend of mine................ this ain’t no America.
