“...you have to submit to an ID Card process.”
You already have to do that with a driver’s license, Social Security, enroll in college or anything else, or buy anything online.
I am against a national registry that compiles state information to do an end run on the need for a national ID Card.
Further, Social Security Cards are not a form of ID. They merely document your Social Security number. Another ID is used to verify who you are.
So the separating is there. Does the federal government abuse this? Certainly. Should it? I don’t believe so.
If I show up at an airport, what difference is it who I am? Isn’t the important thing that I don’t have anything on me to cause a problem?
IMO the Homeland Security procedure at the airport has very little to do with actual terrorism, and more than anything else to do with tracking your movement.
In coming years, I think this issue will loom a lot larger. ID Cards will be tied to other things, and will eventually be something that can be used to cut off your rights, easier than turning off a light switch.
These are incremental steps. I don’t like the pathway.
“I am against a national registry that compiles state information to do an end run on the need for a national ID Card.”
I am sure that all Americans are already on a national registry. The illegals are not. Anything is subject to abuse, but if an ID card, perhaps with an expiration date, is necessary to flush out all the illegals, so be it.
I just heard the delayed broadcast of Savage’s show and listened to the interview with Trump. You are right; Savage did most of the talking. Trump can’t say exciting things every time he opens his mouth; I took the interview as a courtesy to Savage and his listeners. And I don’t think he necessarily has to go into intimate detail with all his programs. The others certainly have not. Campaigning can be like a poker game.
Your dilemma has rounded Second Base, nearly to Third.
Basically the only thing we don’t have yet is a Bar-code tattooed on our foreheads.
To quote Laz “We are so screwed”
I don’t believe anyone goes through life now with no ID. All states issue Driver’s Licenses and in addition, ID cards. You don’t have to get a national ID as yet, at least here. In addition, a Passport will serve as an ID.
Nowdays you can’t have a job, a bank account, a library card or collect welfare :) without an ID. At this point that does not mean a national ID card.
I agree. Some interviews will be better than others.
Trump was gracious to Savage, honored his listeners by doing so.
BTW, I haven't seen my SS card for decades but I do remember it said on the card that it was not to be used for ID purposes(or words to that effect).
Gotta remember Savage got himself in some trouble, and some see him as rather fringe. I take the guy with a grain of salt, but now all people do.
Trumps didn’t mind going on his program. That’s fairly impressive to me.
I’ve seen guys dodge talk show hosts a lot more honorable than Savage. I think it speaks well of Trump.
Thanks for the recap.
Well, I’m not that far off from Laz then.
I don’t want to overplay it, but I do think this is a very important topic.
In the Bible it talks of last days and the righteous being prevented from buying and selling.
I’ve watched as other things played out, and now expect this too as well. It’s uncanny Bible prophecy.
No, but the feds are trying to access and link up with the individual state’s ID Card systems.
I’d be surprised if that isn’t pretty much a done deal by now.
I would urge you to read deeper, perhaps read the responses to me and the exchange. I left out some information and one of the guys reminded me of something I forgot.
