Thank God Mr. Cruz is in Washington
American Thinker ^ | July 29, 2015 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 07/29/2015 10:04:16 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

My email account was on fire, everyone excited about Senator Ted Cruz calling Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell a liar on the Senate floor. Cruz cited each of Obama's unprecedented unlawful power grabs and repeals of our freedoms that the GOP promised to block, only to stab us (We the People/Tea Party) in the back. Immediately, I thought, “Thank God Ted Cruz is in Washington.”

Before I go on, I wish to address a guy whom I will call Ned. Whenever I praise a conservative, Ned emails to correct me, claiming the conservative is a deceitful traitor. When I share reasons for optimism, Ned vehemently disagrees, even seeming a bit angry that I would think our efforts could possibly make a difference in America's corrupt political environment. Ned always sees the glass less than half empty. I guess we need people like Ned to keep us balanced -- although I am not quite sure about that.

Sure enough, in response to patriots' giving Cruz rave reviews for speaking truth to Washington power, Ned ripped into Cruz about questionable votes. Folks, I realize Ted Cruz is not perfect. But then, which presidential candidate is? Jesus is not running for president in 2016.

To a member of the Tea Party since it began, Cruz going down the list of GOP betrayals brought back memories. Remember how we fought and worked our butts off to give the GOP the House, then the Senate? We worked to elect Republicans to stop Obama from rolling out the welcome mat to illegals.

Over a million of us showed up in DC to protest ObamaCare.

I thought of all the travel miles, funds, blood, sweat, and tears sacrificed by Tea Party Americans; patriots who simply want lawful Constitutional government.

I thought about how Obama sent out

If Jesus were running for President, I'm sure there would be at least one policy in His platform with which I would disagree.

This doesn't mean that Ted Cruz is perfect, only that each of us is imperfect.

He has become a “BREATH OF FRESH AIR” inside this most corrupt “CLUB” in the world. Cruz is exposing what most of us knew but didn’t have any proof. These thieves would steal the coins from a dead man’s eyes, and not think they did anything wrong. They would attack anyone that would try to expose their dirty dealings

Chris Hayes of all people.

but tonight we begin with a man who i believe is the most dangerous politician on the american right. in october 2007 i sat in the media gallery of the united states supreme court and watched the solicitor general of texas argue on behalf of the state that he should have the ability to put to death a mexican national, jose, who had been convicted of raping and murdering two teenage girls in houston. he won that argument and he was executed by texas on august 5th , 2008 , despite the objections of the united nations and the international court of justice . at the time, i had no idea who this man arguing on behalf of texas was. but all i could think was holy crap , this guy is good. it was one of his nine times arguing before the supreme court and he was witty, incredibly fast on his feet and clearly had a brilliant legal mind. it is to this day one of the most impressive displays i have ever seen before the court and i have had the good fortune to spend a lot of time there. so you can imagine my horror in 2012 when i tuned into the texas senate race.

Is Ted Cruz the most dangerous man on the American right?

I didn’t know Lloyd Marcus was a freeper. Excellent article, well stated, Mr. Marcus. My wife and I were with you and 3/4 of a million others in Washington and we were involved with the McDaniel campaign in Mississippi and yes, we will sleep better with Ted Cruz in the White House.

Excellent work as usual by Lloyd Marcus. Although I’m surprised all the Neds here haven’t yet jumped this thread. They’d probably say Lloyd was just sucking up to Cruz in hopes of getting an inaugural singing gig. Which I’d love to have him get!

I realize Ted Cruz is not perfect.
_____________________________________________

Yet if Ted Cruz were merely good, he’d at least be registering more than 5% in the polls. After almost three years of media exposure in the Senate...where are his supporters?

On the other hand, after almost three hours as a candidate, Donald Trump began to soar in the polls and is now averaging 25%.

Maybe this is because Donald Trump actually DID SOMETHING for Republicans. His passionate denunciation of illegal immigrant criminals and his equally passionate defense of his statements when the big bullies of the media came out to beat him up on the playground caused the serious issue of illegal immigrant crime to dominate the headlines just when the Democrats were about to start a national discussion on whether owners of Confederate flags should be given death sentences or merely life imprisonment.

Who else of the 16 Republican candidates will also have the courage to raise important issues?

For example, as the baby-tissues-for-cash revelations bring the sins of Planned Parenthood to the fore, will any candidate use the upcoming Republican debate to promise that if elected he/she will immediately begin the process of promoting the creation of a Constitutional Amendment banning late-term abortions?

There would be no downside to doing this, except maybe propelling the candidate who did so into the presidency — which more and more it seems the candidates don’t really want so much as to simply campaign, with all the fun and excitement and money and cheering crowds that brings, with none of the responsibilities of actually governing attached.

What a load of garbage...spoken like a good Trump person...talking points and all.

He is registering more than 5% in the polls if you stop reading real clear...look at the internals of those polls. Are they Republican based? On the other hand, if you look at Republican polls, Cruz is in the top 4.

BTW, I guess his supporters are hiding since he raised SO little money this last time, right? LOL.

There is a reason Cruz isn’t being covered and Trump is...first, Trump is more of a media personality. He attracts viewers. But, the media tends to ignore those they fear the most...

What did Trump actually do? He spoke loudly, oh, and he bashed McCain, but WHAT did he do? Flying to the border and talking about a border fence in certain areas isn’t doing something.

Who else has the courage? I don’t know...maybe a Senator from TX who called out his leader on the floor of the Senate? Someone who will actually SUFFER the consequences for standing up...Trump has nothing to lose. What he is doing isn’t heroic or courageous.

Trump hasn’t said he will ban partial birth yet...but Cruz is working on Planned Parenthood bills as we speak. Anyone who followed politics would know this. What has Trump said on Planned Parenthood by the way? Where was his outrage? I am glad to see that Trump is moving the bill onto the Senate Floor...oh wait, he isn’t. Cruz is.

Go figure.

I say let the Left overplay their hand. If they come after Cruz that hard, a deft parry might have them sprawled on the floor. And Cruz is capable of this.
