Last wed evening, 7/24, I fell down the stairs at home and broke my right humerus. Visited ER and got an x-ray, cast, etc.
At 9:45 in the morning, 7/29, I'm having a surgical procedure to put a rod in my humerus from the shoulder to elbow.
Asking for prayer. I know that God won't give us more than we can bear.
Thank you.
One of the worst things about aging is the drying of the skin. I find myself slipping on the polyester/wool blend carpet when descending the stairs barefoot that never would have happened before. Also I pick things up with my accustomed level of manual dexterity and they slip right out of my fingers. Pain in the keister. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
If upchuck was banned, there would be a disturbance in the Force.
You mean upchuck isn't the droid we've been looking for?
Now you tell me ;)
Dr said his office would issue me a letter to cover the metal rod in my arm.
I haven’t flown since 1996 and have no plans to. However it is covered.
“Thats a great idea. Thanks for sharing.”
I found myself using those handholds going UP the stairs as well as down. They are great stability to hold on to going up. You feel solid on the stairs going up.
He identified the studs in the wall and attached the handholds to those so the handholds are never coming off.
He had me go down the stairs, one at a time and stopping on each stair, so he could see where my arm was (distance from the bottom of the wall) and made a mark at the level of my arm and that’s where he attached a handhold to the nearest stud. I am not going to fall going down or up those stairs.
Guess you won’t be vacationing in the South of France, then! :-)
It sounds as if you’re going to be just fine, my friend.
I didn’t see the prayer request, but you will be getting some
belated prayers from me for your rapid healing, surcease of
pain, and good-as-newness very soon.
In Jesus Holy Name, I humbly pray. Amen!
Prayers are prayers. Belated or not. Thank you so much.
I got my dog Punkin back last Tues 8/4. Shes happy to be home and Im happy to have her.
That's the best medicine of all!
Didn’t have “somebody” per se. Instead, had several friends who could come over, help me get dressed and take me to Dr visits, etc.
Most of the time I was here by myself. And that’s ok.
You’re welcome.
With friends like you, who needs more friends?
Get well soon, dear.
Glad it is going well.
My advice is do the PT even if you think you have “recovered”. It seems to work better with them involved(my observations from family members events).
What a blessing to have friends like that. So glad you’re better and that Punkin is home.
