Last wed evening, 7/24, I fell down the stairs at home and broke my right humerus. Visited ER and got an x-ray, cast, etc.
At 9:45 in the morning, 7/29, I'm having a surgical procedure to put a rod in my humerus from the shoulder to elbow.
Asking for prayer. I know that God won't give us more than we can bear.
Thank you.
May God bless you and keep you and heal you swiftly.
Hope you get out of the cast soon too... keep us posted.
Prayers..God bless
LOL! That’s the spirit! Keep it up!
Knew you would be OK.....
Just get better quickly so you don’t have to post one handed!

Prayers still up :)

Recap:
Wed, 7/24,fell down stairs at home; broke right humerus (for those of you in Rio Linda, the humerus is the second largest bone in your body. It’s the bone between you shoulder and your elbow).
Wed, 7/29, had a surgical procedure to put a rod in my humerus from the shoulder to elbow.
Tue, 8/11, post-op Dr visit. Takaways:
- Took the cast off today and it’ll stay off. Hoorah!
- I can drive as long as the vehicle is automatic.
- Will need physical therapy only if I can’t achieve the needed range of motion by myself.
- The rod, pins and screws are made from titanium.
- I have a followup visit in four weeks.
- Bones will take 6-8 weeks to fully knit back together. Dr. said by Thanksgiving tissues, muscles and tendons all should be healed up.
The Dr took two xrays. Very interesting to look at. He did a great job of getting the two humerus pieces back together.
After the exam it was a real thrill to be able to put my shirt on by myself and button it up. What a relief!
I got Punkin back last Tues 8/4. She’s happy to be home and I’m happy to have her.
My thanks to all of you for your - Took the cast off today and it’ll stay off. Hoorah!

My thanks to you all for the many prayers offered on my behalf. My rapid recovery is solid proof that prayer works.
Praise the Lord! Sounds like you are quite a trooper and I pray you continue to heal!
Lord, thank you for answering our prayers and getting upchuck to this point.
Upchuck, glad to hear such great results. Arm breaks are serious business, especially as we get older.
Amen.
My wife is getting home after rather extensive spine surgery Thursday. Having seen how she has overcome this surgery at her age can give anyone hope. You will do just fine. Our prayers. There are some fine people in the health care field who will give you good care.
Sounds real good! Success is sweet and so is freedom!
Thanks for the update. Continued prayers for your speedy healing.
Great report! Prayers up!
Great news, my fellow FReeper!
