[FULL TITLE] How about respect for voters? Orrin Hatch gets pushback after telling senators to use courtesy and respect
Todd Zwillich ✔ @toddzwillichSenate
Pro team Orrin Hatch lecturing now on"courtesy and respect" after Ted Cruz called Mitch McConnell a liar Friday.
This call from Sen. Hatch for courtesy and respect comes after Sen. Ted Cruz called out majority leader Mitch McConnell Friday for telling him a flat-out lie.
Cruz took to the floor to comment on Sen. Hatchs call for civility.
Boom.
In Hatch-speak, civility is code for rolling over and voting the prescribed way.
The sooner the old guard dies off in both parties, the better off the country will be. Thi Senate is a Dinosaur Refuge that lost its purpose when the direct election of senators changed its constitutional function. It should go back to being appointed by the states to bolster states’ rights against the inevitable power grab by the federal government, or it should be abolished.
