For those who may not have heard Senator Ted Cruz's speech today on the Senate Floor, here is the CSPAN video.
I know the other times he has slammed the establishment but this was a real body blow. His devastating attack was spot on and central to the speech he stood to give.
This reset the bar.
Look at the timing: the bill comes up on a Friday, Ted Cruz launches, and now McConnell has all weekend to `formulate a response’.
I predict that it will be McConnell & not Cruz who appears on the Sunday food fights. No theater with Ted Cruz; he said what he said & will stand by it. Dullsville for ratings.
McConnell will have time to cool off. Interviewed right now, he’d probably say, “That little Cuban bastard will wish his name was Ricky Ricardo before I’m finished with him!!!”
What got my attention was the Medellín v. Texas case when Cruz defended American and Texas sovereignty against Mexico, the UN, international criminal court, and Bush administration.

Cruz for President. Then let’s see what happens to Mitch and John.
You could be correct. If they would join it might work but only IF one of them did not get the nomination.
“I thought the same thing. They must have a fall back.”
Sometimes the fallback is unceasing advance, sort of the Patton technique. I mean, what is McConnell going to do, he has been called out as a liar and proved it. This is when you up the pressure even more.
Cruz was on the mark! While The Donald has a lot of guts and doesn’t have to worry about donations, he is not a conservative in the true sense. I pray that people see the difference and realize the better man is really Cruz.
[I wonder if he, Trump and others are considering breaking from the party and starting a new one.]
Hmmmm...Very interesting.
Pray for Ted Cruz. He is going to be hit from all sides. McConnell’s office said he would make no comment, but you can bet they are sending out plenty of folks to make comments in his stead.
I’d be willing to take a look at that.
But suddenly today after ? yrs, he's shocked that he was lied to...Got it.
I don’t think Mitch does anything. I think they hope it blows over. Cruz just accused DC of racketeering, and he’s right. I mean, really, what are they going to say— we’re not corrupt. Who believes that?!?
Also, the elite saw what happen when they went after Trump, he just got stronger. They don’t want to rally support to Cruz.
They’ll try to ignore it— like Rino Fox news did tonight- hope it goes away—— my opinion, anyway .
S0— what’s your gripe?
I think you are correct. Just like the wife says... they think they are above it, immune.
Wow that was fantastic. I hope that Senator Cruz is resigned to the idea that his political career may not be a long one if the GOPe has its way, but it’s OK, God will look out for him and his future no matter what. He speaks truth, and DC can’t take much of that, if any at all.
Cruz is my candidate. Make no mistake, today’s exposition was made possible by Trump’s activities of the last few weeks.
I think the time is right for a 3rd party. Wouldn’t work until now.
Plan A is to get McConnell to resign as Senate Leader. Plan B is to become president and have the Attorney General investigate all the bribery and corruption in the Congress and Senate.
More surprising is that McConnell, or one of his team, didn’t take the ffoor to respond.
“Hmmmm...Very interesting.”
Walker has talked to Trump also. Ben Carson refuses to criticize Trump.
What would happen if Trump, Walker, Cruz, Carson, Alan West, Sarah Palin, Tom Cotton, Mike Lee, Jim Sessions, Dave Brat, Jan Brewer, Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, walked out of the GOP in unison and formed a Liberty Party? Perhaps joined by Newt Gingrich, 70 members of the GOP caucus in the House, 15 GOP Senators, and 10 GOP governors.
The political landscape would change immediately. Either the new party and the GOP would form a coalition in Congress, forcing Boehner and McConnell to come to terms with conservatives, or Pelosi and Reid would be back in charge. The GOP would be facing electoral ruin in 2016 as it would certainly lose the presidential election with the base fractured. The GOP could conceivably lose 2/3 of its seats in Congress to the new party. It is even possible the new party would win the White House or throw the 2016 election to the House of Representatives. Imagine Sanders running as an independent, splintering the progressive vote, if Hillary is the Dem nominee. A four way race between Bush, Hillary, Sanders and a conservative would almost certainly result in the election being determined by the current House of Representatives.
Status quo is not going to save the country. We have reached the point where a better result is likely to result from the destruction of the two party system and the chaos that would follow, than to continue down the present path. The election of Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton leads to the same place.
