On eve of visit, Obama voices support for gay, transgender rights in Africa

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama voiced strong support for gay rights in Africa on Thursday as he began a trip to the continent, bucking calls from some African leaders to keep his views on such controversial issues to himself.

Obama, who departed Washington late Thursday for a trip to Kenya and Ethiopia, had faced criticism from rights groups and growing calls to press the issue aggressively while in a region known for a bleak record on human rights. In an interview with the BBC, Obama said he had been "blunt" with African leaders about gay rights in the past and planned to make it part of his agenda for this trip, too.

Asked about Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto, a critic of gay rights in the U.S., Obama said: "Yeah, well, I disagree with him on that, don't I?"

"Everybody deserves fair treatment — equal treatment — in the eyes of the law and the state," Obama said. "And that includes gays, lesbians, transgender persons."

The first sitting U.S. president to visit Kenya, Obama will also be visiting his ancestral homeland when he arrives Friday to attend a business summit and meetings with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Obama's late father was from Kenya, and in the interview, Obama cited his relatives still in Kenya to argue he knows how the country's history of mistreating women and girls has held Kenya back.

"I think those same values apply when it comes to different sexual orientations," Obama said.

A number of Kenyan politicians and religious leaders have warned Obama in outspoken terms that any overtures on gay rights would not be welcomed in Kenya, where gay sex is punishable by up to 14 years in prison. . .

YES, folks! THOSE are the 2 burning issues in Africa! People are dropping from hunger everywhere, Somali's national business enterprise is piracy and murder, endangered species are being decimated by poachers, but clever Obama saw right to the heart of the issue and determined that deviants are Africa's main problem.

Maybe they should plan his presidential library in Kenya, so his homies can visit.

Interestingly, homosexuality is considered a crime in the Islamic Republic of Iran whereas the same country ranks second in the world in the number of gender reassignment surgeries. Has Obama commented on Iran?

He is an abomination. The Torah is plain enough. Those who flagrantly and publicly engage in same sex perversion are to be executed. Evil must not be given a franchise if a nation wishes to endure. God will not tolerate it. The outrage of legitimizing so called Gay Marriage is de facto spitting in the face of God and cursing Him with filth. There is no compromise here. The Torah will NOT bend. It will fall on those who reject it and grind them to powder. As David said, “All of thy righteous statutes are everlasting!”

Oh yes, “everybody deserves fair treatment - equal treatment - in the eyes of the law and the state”. The Torah does just that. Every man who walks in it will be blessed. Every man, and every nation that rejects it will die. Hell on Earth is fast approaching. There is only one way out of that judgement, and that is the path of repentance: Teshuvah. Return. Obedience, and casting oneself upon the mercy of God, manifest in his Messiah.

Obama is a disgrace. I lived in Africa for years. This fool is going to get exactly nowhere with his gay rights/transgenda nonsense.

I thought the Left was against American cultural imperialism. I suppose it is OK so long as we are pushing the same sewer sexual morality the Left has pushed on America.
