Donald Trump arrived in Laredo at the US border with Mexico today.
Trump met with reporters before his tour of the border. He told reporters the Border Patrol invited him and then backed off because they didn’t want to get involved.
Donald Trump: The reason they invited me was because of the tremendous problem and tremendous crime. And all of the things you’re talking about. So they invited me and then at the last moment, I mean we were virtually in the air, and they said, we can’t get involved. None of them are going to want to follow his lead, only because he did it first, and he made them all look bad.
Still, you're probably right about the pickle DC will be in if any other candidates want to get a tour of the border by the Border Patrol. At this point, they'd have to do the same thing to Hillary, if she wanted to do it, or the sheer scale of hypocrisy would damage them in the voters' eyes.

He has a personal secretary that files everything. I could see him rolling thrust a 20 year old rolladex too. He seems likenthat kind of guy. When speaking with Jesus,the town manager, he used a technique used to remember names. He is a natural politician. If my thumbs weren’t $o tired I’d tell a first hand experience of Pres Carter and his wife’s ability to remember names and details
I’ve personally accompanied a presidential candidate, Alan Keyes, on a tour put on by the Border Patrol. It was in 2008.

By the way, I only posted that to point to the fact that tours for national political candidates by the Border Patrol have been SOP in the past.
In 2008 we had a President in office who hadn't weaponized every federal agency to forward and carry out a radical anti-American agenda.

In some jobs people have to put more effort into red tape and covering their asses than the actual job duties.
