As private citizens stand guard at military recruiting centers across the nation, the Army has released a warning to its personnel and recruits, stating that armed citizens should be treated as a security threat.
Travis Tritten of Stars & Stripes reports:
The Army has warned its recruiters to treat the gun-toting civilians gathering at centers across the country in the wake of the Chattanooga, Tenn., shooting as a security threat.
Soldiers should avoid anyone standing outside the recruiting centers attempting to offer protection and report them to local law enforcement and the command if they feel threatened, according to a U.S. Army Recruiting Command policy letter issued Monday.
Im sure the citizens mean well, but we cannot assume this in every case and we do not want to advocate this behavior, according to the Army Command Operations Center-Security Division letter, which was authenticated by the service.
Recruiters were ordered not to interact or acknowledge the armed civilians, who have been greeted by a mix of concern, indifference and gratitude by the public.
If questioned by these alleged concerned citizens, be polite, professional and terminate the conversation immediately and report the incident to local law enforcement , the command advised.
As the incidents crop up around the country, police could be asked to confront the civilians with guns on the Armys behalf.
Ensure your recruiters clearly articulate to local police the civilian may be armed and in possession of a conceal/carry permit, it told the centers.
The command said recruiters should also immediately fill out an Army security report.

Egads! A black guy! Who brainwashed him?
I’ll tell you what makes me jumpy. Gun free zones. I’m happier when I know the people around me are carrying.
Prior Service troops guarding active duty troops, and the US Army calls them threat? The world has gone mad
Well now, let’s see:
1.The citizens may legally be on public property,
2.The recruiting stations and sidewalks in front are public property.
3. Therefore, the armed citizens have a right to be where they are.
The problem is how to tell the bad guys from the good guys. The solution is to arm the recruiters. Pretty simple really..
Armed citizens will soon be doing the job of Obama’s wussified military.
These folks look like good Americans to me. NO, it’s some army LACKEY who was told by Obama that HE doesn’t want them around. Obama wants our military to continue to be jihadi fodder.
I truly think the Armed Forces of the US have lost their minds with this admin in charge...
Armed citizens protecting US recruiting stations that THEY have paid for are a security risk?
Dear G-d, we have crossed the Rubicon.....
Clarence Thomas.
I would accept this “threat” any day of the week. I think our recruiters are smart enough to understand these are the good guys.
Yep. We have a military to protect the Country, you know, all us civilians. But here we are, thanks to idiotic policy from the bammy administration (as idiotic as their ROE for the troops)... we now have the civilians protecting the military.
The Pentagon is in DC area. Case closed.
So what does the Army suggest the recruiters do...draw the blinds even tighter?
This is beyond absurd!
Maybe in response they should arm the soldiers instead of closing the blinds.
Most armed forces “career centers” (!!!) I have seen are in leased storefronts on private property. This complicates matters slightly. I support these armed citizens, and I support arming the recruiters themselves. The “right” of the citizens to be there is contingent on the property owner’s approval.
Or the River Styx.
The Founders were leery of standing armies for good reasons.
Politicians will be tempted to use standing armies as a hammer to “fix” every problem.
Standing armies encourage “adventurism”.
Standing armies can easily become a threat to a nation own citizens by corruption of that army’s officer corps.
President Trump’s first job should be to fire all the Generals and Admirals who aided Obama’s LGBT assault on the military. This will probably only leave about one or two.
OK, I am gonna be a gun-bigot for a sec. Feel free to flame me, but read my closing remarks, please.
Guy on far left has a small mag, no visible spares, stock is all the way in (pretty short for a tall guy), has no sling, and HOW can his rear sight (is there one?) see thru his front iron sight to get a useful sight picture? Plus his thigh rig looks like his kids put it on his leg.
Next guy has no visible (to me) rear sight on his firearm (10/22?) And while I don’t have his firearm to know from experience, the charging handle appears to be locked open. And while he has his finger off the trigger, he is kinda covering the people to his left.
Blue shirt looks like he is used to concealed carry. I’ll let him go. Just might be his wife to his left.
Help me make sense of Longhorn’s sling and carry. Is he left or right handed? How does he bring it up and ready? Appears to have a holster on his right hip - printing a little.
Guy on far right? Don’t F&%^ with him ;-)
Now having been a pissant about all this. THEY are THERE, I was not. Kudos to them.
I would prefer to see a slightly more well-regulated militia though ;-p
