Review: Gustave Caillebotte at the National Gallery U.S. CRIMINAL JUSTICE Sheriff Says Sandra Bland Told Jailer of a Previous Suicide Attempt Tanya Basu @mstanyabasu 5:14 PM ET
Bland indicated she had attempted suicide at least once in the past year
Sandra Blandthe African-American woman whose mysterious and sudden death in a Waller County, Tex. jail last week after a traffic stop has incited controversytold jailers that she had previously attempted suicide, according to information from a closed meeting with Waller County officials on Tuesday.
On a form, Bland indicated that she had attempted suicide over the past year, apparently due to the loss of a baby. At the time of her arrest, however, Bland indicated that she did not feel suicidal. Her mental history remains a little bit fuzzy, Rep. Sylvester Turner told The Houston Chronicle.

Facts do not matter to these people.
“Mah babee would never attempt suicide!”
At the beginning I thought she was having breathing problems and was about to seizure
As I think about it...
I think Ms. Bland set out that fateful day to see what Suicide by Cop is like. First hand.
She certainly mouthed off enough. But since that plan failed, she went ahead and killed herself by herself.

Homegirl had be hang herself?
Dang! That ain’t even right!
RACIST! Because.. .. . RACIST!
It seemed the more agitated she became, the more she spoke and expressed her thoughts out loud. Some people have enough self control to dial it back at such a time. She did have a point in asking ‘what am I being arrested for?’. The officer could only respond by barking yet a different order.
This is the worst case scenario. The loss of a baby effects each mother differently, as does post-partum depression.
This condition may have been a factor as to why she would not, could not shut her mouth and simply cooperate.
She said in the vid she had ‘epilepsy’.
Did ya’all see the vid on Fox this morning of a black guy who was pissed about his bus fare, kept ramming his head into the bus door, knocked himself unconscious? Ala.. Freddie Grey anyone?
In this case, I think what the cop did was pure bull$h!t, but that didn’t mean she didn’t commit suicide in jail.
I’ve always been a supporter of the police. Donations to the sheriff’s fund, etc. If I was ever pulled over for not using my signal...OK, I’d shut up and listen to the MF’er give me his power tripper lecture and then thank him for the citation and be on my way. Don’t cops have bigger fish to fry than pulling over people for not using their signals? I’m starting to understand why minorities are afraid of these guys. They may as well be dressed in white robes. Why should she have had to get out of her car..for what reason? We don’t live in a police state...yet.
But also potentially a huge blow for the cops. The video they released of the hallway outside the holding cell showed no movement into or out of the cell area for ~2 hours before she was found. They had a prisoner who had a previous (within the last year) suicide attempt, and no one checked on her for 2 hours? Not so good.
What I saw was the beginning of "hostilities" between LEO and driver
The driver (and later the report says it was for a failure to signal .... MAJOR offense, there ... ) just might have been a FReeper that has seen one of those "what to do if they stop you illegally) video's that ALL OF US WISH WE HAD THE BALLS TO CARRY OUT, but we know we probably never will .... and she questioned (in my opinion, calmly ... certainly not screaming, like the cop was screaming at HER) .... WHY are you arresting me ?
The clip I saw showed an out of control LEO

oh boy,, but at the same time.. suicide watch was warranted,, they have a policy,, did they fail in its implementation?
what a tragedy regardless..
I’ve been pulled over for a taillight that was out.
I showed my license and insurance. I kept my hands where he could always see them. It was at night.
I gave no arguments. I offered no excuses or justifications. He ran my license back at his car. He gave me a warning and we both went on our way.
I’m a white middle-aged guy. I didn’t blame it on my race or any other nonsense. It was because my taillight was out.
She was kept in jail for 3 days for a lane change and an argument with a hot under the collar cop. Sick and outrageous.
You weren’t told to get out of your car...then what could have happened?
I have no reasons to have my path cross the police virtually ever...but then there’s the odd time, like yesterday. My neighbor called about 20 miles from home saying that she was in her car and the alarm company said she had an open door. She gave me her gate code and I went over and saw the back door open and closed it. Never went inside. As I was exiting the side gate, a policeman came up and was very excited to lecture the hell out of me for being on her property. I tried to explain to him that the owner had just called me but he told me to just shut up and listen and that I could have been killed by a burglar had that been the case and that I shouldn’t have complied with my neighbor. He asked me to come back with him into the house to confirm if any items had been moved or were out of order. I denied him saying that I never entered the house and could not attest to anything inside. He then told me to stay by the gate until he checked the house and I told him that I’m going home and if he has any further questions of me to ring the bell and I’d be happy to comply. The guy was a high stung power tripper and said he was just trying to educate me for my own safety. I politely thanked him and said that if it ever happens again, I’ll have a loaded pistol with me...he stumbled and stammered and as I returned to my home. If I had been black, I’m thinking I would have been arrested.
Rickyrikardo,
Thanks for the comment!
