In boot camp at Fort Jackson, a quarterback from Arizona State got a discharge because of any enlarged heart. There were medical guidelines that kept kids out of Viet Nam.

My Granddad was Calvary ROTC at UGA. Turned out he had flat feet and the military would not take him for WWII. He was heartbroken. He tried a lot of ways to get in, but once the paperwork was done, he could not and so he served as a civilian doing desk work.
