The problem is that some people took Trump’s words and then made a hasty generalization. For example, “if you don’t like chocolate ice cream, then you probably don’t like any desserts.” And “if you don’t like McCain’s neglect of the VA problems, then you probably don’t like any military men or their wives.”
Hasty generalizations take us away from true sentences, such as Trump is a good speaker; McCain neglects the VA problems.
Trump made the generalization: "I like people who didn't get caught."
Not that I want to spend any time defending McCain, of all people.
