LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) A pedicure received by Kentucky Attorney General Candidate Whitney Westerfield before his 2009 wedding is the focus of an attack ad launched Monday, July 20, by the Kentucky Democratic Party.
Calling pedicures Westerfield's "secret guilty pleasure," the ad relies on a report by CN2 that showed criticism of Westerfield by a former co-worker in his personnel file as an assistant Commonwealth's Attorney that alleged Westerfield's "'personal interests often [took] priority over work duties,'" including "'Teeth Cleaning vs. Jury Trial,' 'Pedicure vs. Arraignments,' and 'Cell Phone in Court.'"
Westerfield is the Republican nominee for Kentucky Attorney General. He faces Democrat Andy Beshear in the fall election.
In an interview Monday morning, Westerfield said it was possible he was late after doing something in his lunch hour, but "never missed a jury trial" and was never reprimanded or chastised by the commonwealth's attorney.
"I think it's silly if that's what they want to attack me on," Westerfield told WHAS11. "They are going after the one thing that Andy Beshear does not have and that is prosecutorial experience."

ALL KY politics is dirty - and I can speak from authority and personal experience, having worked for the state.
Kentucky is NOT a state - it's a condition...
It’s rather extraordinary to me the Democrats are so nervous about a candidate that has so little money vs. the millions Beshear has raised - making a scandal out of having a pedicure prior to getting married (I guess because it wasn’t for a same-sex wedding?). The internal polling must be very bad.
Andy Beshear, what a little creep. Just like his dad.
Republican makes a pedicure ad about a male dem today, the entire national party would go apesh!t, calling it fag bashing. Remember how pissed they were when they alleged that Republicans were trying to fag-bash Daniel Mongiardo? And that was over 10 years ago, before the democrats anointed homosexuals as protected class #1.
We need to take as many statewide offices in KY as possible, not just the Governorship. AG might be the most important, to keep Andy’s little loin leavings from having it.
It would appear we have a chance at all of them, other than SOS Allison SoapScum, she appears to be facing a nobody. Wildcat?
Steve’s loin leavings, I mean.
