I was deferred 2-S from 1968-1971. When my lottery number was 326, I switched to 1-A to get my year of eligibility out of the way, then back to 2-H for medical school.

I think the policy of automatic college deferment was terrible, and I hope if we ever need a draft again that it is not followed.

I had a deferment provided by the US Navy because my services were required for the good of the country during time of war.
