Clashes have broken out at an anti-austerity rally by thousands of protesters outside Parliament in Athens.
Riot police used pepper spray and tear gas Wednesday night to fight back youths in the crowd who were hurling Molotov cocktails and rocks at police.
Police said about 12,500 people were at the rally at Syntagma Square. The clashes broke out just as lawmakers were starting to debate an austerity bill that includes consumer tax increases and pension reforms.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who has faced strident opposition to the bill from his own radical left Syriza party, says it's the best possible deal he could get to prevent Greece from being forced out of Europe's joint euro currency.

Not yet. The latest glut of money to Greece its neighbors was said to be enough for three years at the most. When it’s done, then Greece will be interesting. And by then, maybe we’ll have a much better show right here. The cash flow for big government spending from debt won’t go on forever. It should be turned off fairly soon.

This is the way banking elites run the world.
Countries are like credit card customers. They cut benefits and raise taxes under “austerity” so regular debt payments (credit card payments) can be made while continuing to increase their national debt (national credit card limit)
Heck, the United States keeps increasing its debt ceiling too because credit ratings agencies say it will hurt the country’s credit rating if they don’t.

Looks like a little fun, though. Former/reduced-pay teachers, administrators, pensioners, regulators, local politicians, government-linked business folks and police tossing molotov cocktails at newer, cheaper, younger, stronger police.

I sense that the US is in a unique position of being the number one fiat currency nation, and autonomous.
So far this and the relative lack corruption seems to have been sufficient to prevent an economic apocalypse.

Police should have the right to shoot any of them that are throwing those things at them. The police officer’s life is endangered.
Throwing those things might be the most work any of them have done in 20+ years. I don’t have much sympathy for them.

I’m surprised that the Mayor of Athans didn’t let the protestors burn down the city. That policy worked so well in Baltimore.

They're socialists. Having things thrown at them might be the most work any of them have done in 20+ years.

That's correct. Greece doesn't have a welfare system for the poor. The rioters are government employees, government-connected business people, pensioners and the like. Excerpt from

Here's one from about 2 1/2 years ago. Like the USA, Greece enjoyed big pork to local governments, but the party from recirculating debt is winding down.

A teacher's union leader speaks at about 55 seconds into this one (video from last year). More recently, the overpaid socialist professionals have been concealing their participation in riot activities by posing as "anarchists."

Why do these people think others should fund their welfare?
If the USA economically collapses, which I expect it to do in the future, will anyone bail us out? I don’t think so. We’ll be on our own.

"
Why do these people think others should fund their welfare?"
Our American fraternities and sororities use their alphabet and promote their ancient pagan society as the greatest ideal for government. Movies have glorified their culture. Their country has been a trendy vacation destination.

Yes. Here's a 2013 video that explains it fairly well in a simple way, starting with Greece and following the situation to our own U.S. collapse.

That's the problem with the EU: They keep sucking on Greece until they have all its assets, like islands, gold, etc. Then Greece is on its own.
Don't get me wrong, Greek socialism introduced them to the EU. Now they are reaping the EU evil.
