NEW YORK (AP) -- The family of a black man who died after being placed in a white police officer's chokehold is holding a news conference Tuesday to discuss the $5.9 million settlement it reached with the city days before the anniversary of his death.
The news conference will be held by attorneys for Eric Garner's family and the Rev. Al Sharpton, who is calling on New Yorkers to attend a rally Saturday in honor of Garner and other victims of police misconduct.

I’m SURE they’ll donate it to charity. After all, the suit was about justice, not money, right?
I’m guessing the competency of the family team coupled with a sense of a need to brag in some fashion will violate the terms of the settlement. IOW, you can’t trust AS to a damned thing that’s smart. He’s a single-cell organism.

I’m just curious: Since video of an illegal chokehold being used is not proof of an illegal chokehold being used then what would either of you consider to be ‘proof’ of such a thing?
It was what they call a “submission hold” which is not banned. The autopsy revealed no damage to his windpipe. Even if they laid him down gently, he still could have died. He was a walking corpse. He had severe asthma, to the point where he had to resign his job from the city parks department, obesity, and heart disease. They said he could barely walk a block before he had to sit down. A car blowing it’s horn could have ended this guy. You know the 2 cops that were assassinated last December in New York city by the psycho who was encouraged by DeBlasio? I believe the families of those cops got a few hundred thousand solely by donations. How much did DeBlasio award them especially since he encouraged their deaths? ZERO. But he has no problem giving $41 million to admitted rapists........
Do “innocent” rapists brag to their friends about it?

Seems the NYC Revenue Collection system has the revenue collected from taxpayers moving into different pockets than DeBlasio's cronies planned.
