We are in the mess we are in because we as laity became too passive in the defense of tradition. If gutting the liturgy were tried in an Eastern Orthodox country, they would have thrown the Patriarch out on his ear.
As far as Africa goes, I place my hope in the African Church, not African government—and the same goes for ours.
