Seattle Proposes Anti-Second Amendment “Gun Violence Tax”
dailycaller ^ | 7-10-15 | Larry Keane

The Seattle City Council is expected to take up an ill-advised proposal that will impose a $25 tax on each firearm and a nickel tax on every round of ammunition sold by a retailer in Seattle. Proposed by anti-gun Council President Tim Burgess, the so-called “Gun Violence Tax” ordinance will have no effect on decreasing gun violence. It is designed to place a huge burden on legitimate firearms retailers and law-abiding gun owners. The City Council is expected to take up the proposed ordinance next Wednesday, July 15. The proposed ordinance would impose a tax on those “engaging in the business if making retail sales of firearms and ammunition,” requiring federally licensed firearms dealers to pay an additional imposed tax rate of “$25 per firearm sold at retail and $.05 per round of ammunition sold at retail.” A $.05 tax on ammunition is absurd, because in some cases that could be more than the cost of the product itself. The proposed ordinance is nothing but a “poll tax” on the Second Amendment and an effort to drive Seattle’s firearms retailers out of business. The proposed “Gun Violence Tax” ordinance would violate Washington’s firearms preemption statute (RCW 9.41.290) which states,

Not a problem. Simply buy your needed supplies in nearby towns without such draconian laws.

Liberals are feeling emboldended and empowered coming off their success in SCOTUS, and the emotionally hysterical success in anning the Confederate Flag and with every divisive “achievement” they stab the American people with the knife of more control and twist it. More attempts at eroding the Second Amendment should expected before the emotion wanes and subsides as it normally does.

Will Seattle follow this with a poll tax that applies only to registered Republicans?

You're absolutely correct. The leftist bastards here think they've marginalized gun owners (or anybody else they disapprove of) that they think they can turn the regulatory and fiscal screws on us with impunity. It never ceases to amaze me...the totalitarian impulse of these statist creeps, and the piety they can cloak it in.

I guess Seattle is as good a place as any for a second civil war to start.

How about they slap a tax on the criminals? Upon conviction of gun violence, part of the legal penalty shall involve a fine based on weapon used and the number of bullets fired. That way we are taxing only those who are actually criminals.

Don’t ask me how these criminals will pay the tax when in prison. Haven’t thought that through. But these are the people who should be taxed if someone has decided we need gun violence taxes.

1. Don’t tell them you have one.

2. Buy your stuff outside Seattle.

Uh, their goal is not to stop the bad guys (they need the bad guys); the goal is to drive firearms dealers out of business.

Plus, it's also to a lesser degree, just liberal greed.

“Sounds like the perfect place.”

No, it’s a dreary place most of the time. Why do you think most of the coffee companies were started there? They are such big time Commies that they have signs along their highways with toll free numbers for motorists to rat on other motorists.

Already hordes of violent criminals are rushing to sign up to pay this tax.

Reality: they want to take guns from non-violent citizens and deliberately leave them in the hands of violent criminals.

Maybe they can tax speech, religion and explain how if this is legal a poll tax isn’t?

A tax on arms and ammunition is just a money grab, nothing else. A tax on firearms will do nothing to stem the tide of crimes committed with a gun. Stated simply, it’s just politicians groping for more money.

I’m glad we live in the “Tarheel”. I’m one of Progunners daughters stuck in the shop for awhile pumpin out ammo for a bowling pin match tomorrow.
