Forget sugar? Gluten free would be bad enough.
My 7 year old girl grabbed some gluten free brownies that our neighbor left on the door step. She started to eat them and then warned me that the construction men nearby were trying to poison us and not to eat the brownies.
Gluten free tends to be heavy and mealy. Often, the alternative ingredients substitute bean sugars that bring a new level of digestive upset. I've reached the point where I reject most of the gluten free "alternatives". I'm happy to just not eat any grains other than rice. It makes for a short menu.
