A Uniter and A Fighter: Bush and Walker Videos Illustrate Appeals
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 7, 2015 | Reid J. Epstein

To see how Jeb Bush and Scott Walker are approaching the 2016 presidential campaign, listen to the background music in the web videos their respective campaigns released Tuesday.

The soundtrack to Mr. Bush’s video is a series of simple piano scales, from low to high notes, representing the sort of happy-warrior optimism from a candidate who said he’d only seek the White House if he could do so “joyfully.” Mr. Bush narrates the video from footage acquired at his various campaign events.

For Mr. Walker’s video – a setup to his planned campaign launch next Monday – the foreboding orchestral chords sound ripped from an action sequence in a Jerry Bruckheimer film. The Wisconsin governor is never heard from himself. Instead a deep-voiced narrator trades off with video clips of Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) in ticking through his accomplishments – and more importantly for Mr. Walker’s audience, his career-defining victory over the state’s labor unions in his 2012 recall election.

Who exactly is Bush looking to unite?

El Estados Unidos de Norte America y Mexico?

Let me guess? Chris Christie's music is a calliope doing the Barnum & Bailey circus theme and Huckabee's is the dueling banjoes from Deliverance? And Santorum?

Sundresses and Sweater Vests

See those raindrops fall Collect outside the windows And one by one umbrellas open to the sky

Splashes, and circles, and people running for cover avoiding the rain

Ignore the pitter pat Don't look back at the people staring from inside They just don't understand Dance with me take a chance and be Something more than reality Please dear, come dance Dance with me

Oh, how much more akward can we get? You a sundress and I a sweater vest Can't you see this is something more than just a nuiscence It's a romance, we're faking

This traveling street we haven't taken yet Passing by the ones with dead ends Ones with names we seem to forget We'll talk for hours about simple things Like new music and fashions trends Not a worry about the future in our minds

Oh, how much more akward can we get? I speak with melodies and you a picture scene Frames shot black and white Colors reflect the passing of time That we spent, that we spent under the raindrops

".....Dennis Boyer, a retired AFSCME [American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees] staff member, lamented: How did Wisconsin go from a vibrant pro-union state to a hotbed of reactionary politics? How did we get from the Wisconsin of Bob La Follette and Gaylord Nelson to the Wisconsin of Scott Walker and his buddies the Koch brothers?.....

I have been asked many times since the dropping of the Act 10 bomb on public employees what might have been done differently. Many thousands of union members and supporters ringed the Capitol and raised their voices. I spent many hours there and it felt hopeful. Then it was over.

We didn’t raise the political costs to the level sufficient to give our enemies pause (yes, in a war there are enemies). As I left the last Wisconsin Uprising rally, I wondered, why did electric power continue to state buildings during that time (same with the steam heat) and why did school sessions continue and buses roll? It seemed like a major battle had raged and our side had held back.

It seems to me, when faced with an existential crisis, that the full array of tactics and bold measures must be considered, and, after due consideration, be deployed incrementally or simultaneously as resources and circumstances dictate. . . . There was room to organize all manner of slowdowns, sit-downs, and gumming up of the public sector. Even after the passage of Act 10, there could have been an ongoing campaign of guerrilla labor action behind management’s lines. This is the era of asymmetrical warfare, of hacking, of fragile networks of communication. Business as usual can be disrupted."....

Capital Research Center takes you back to relive the Wisconsin union protests in: Labor Watch July 2015: Scott Walker vs. the Unions, Part 2: Unintended consequences: Wisconsin goes Right to Work, and Walker seeks a promotion Read how Walker and the Republican Legislature took power. And from that quote above, know that the Left plans to fight with everything they have to keep Walker out of the White House.

I think Mr Bush’s life would be more “joyful” back in Florida, thank you very much.

Either way, still more of the same. Walker and Bush are related families. Haven’t we had enough already?

The author is equating their video music choices to their political approach (as noted in the title).

To the author,

How’s Obama The Uniter working out for you, he sometimes fancies himself as a fighter, too? And I don’t care what background music he used.

(Didn’t read the full article)
