Homosexuality has traditionally been part of pagan religions since they are Satanic. Temple prostitutes, both male and female, were part of the worship of Molech, Ashtoreth, Baal and others in Middle Eastern pagan rituals.

In fact, under the Republic they had a moral panic about worship of Bacchus, which involved all kinds of sexual depravity, including homosexuality, at least in stories as told by enemies.
