I couldn't care less; they are Egyptian monuments, let the Egyptians protect them.
If I recall correctly it was vandalized by a Sufi Moslim by the name of Mohammad Sa’im Dahr in the 14th century.

The only reason we know anything about ancient Egyptian culture is because Western archaeologists saw the importance of exploring and restoring these sites. Once that was done, the locals whined they were being “robbed” and “exploited” so they demanded them back. F ‘em.

Blowing up a pyramid might take some doing.

Dont worry. Obama, at todays Pentagon speech, indicated he would beat ISIS with a merciless barrage of platitudes. the pen bumper sticker is mightier than the sword!

aren’t the locals mostly the descendents of invading arab muslims anyway? the descendents of the actual ancient egyptians are pretty much gone now (i think only the copts are genetically closely descended from them), replaced by the arabian sons of mohammed.
at least this has always been my understanding... that the arab conquerors basically converted/killed/raped the ancient egyptians and then bred with their women over centuries, thus the resulting modern egyptians have became more arabian than ancient egyptian.

arent the locals mostly the descendents of invading arab muslims anywayThis is a question that can probably now be answered, by DNA testing.
My 1965 Britannica wrote that the current Egyptians were probably descendants of the ancient Egyptians, but that was unscientific.
For example, Kennewick Man has recently been shown to have really been an American Indian, after years of uncertainty.
I wonder if the current Greeks are descended from the ancient Greeks, or mostly from the Slav invasders of the Middle Ages. Also would be interesting to know the background of the current Anatolians.

Don't want to see them destroyed; be a cultural loss for all humanity, but I am not willing to expend one single American life to protect them either.
Those architectural monuments belong to the people of Egypt; it is their responsibility to protect them, not ours.
I don't think the Egyptians, the Saudis, the Libyans, or the French would expend one single dollar or life to protect the Lincoln Memorial or Mount Rushmore.

“Millions of Americans go to so those places.”
I have been there...in 1984...would not go there today...
Having said that, Egypt is a dichotomy of extraordinary historical events, and it is my opinion, as well as the opinion of many, that the pyramids of Giza predate Noah’s Flood...
ISIS, and their Arch Supporter, a Muzzie usurper residing in the White Mosque, can go to Hell.

Narrow-minded at best.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is over 4,500 years old and is the oldest monument of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is also the only one left standing. It is a marvel of human engineering and construction, and its sheer size and scale rivals any structure built within the last few hundred years. To this day, it is one of the largest of all human constructions in history.
Its importance in human history is immense. The world cannot stand by and watch these barbaric savages destroy these monuments of ancient history.
