Since the Supreme Courts decision in Obergefell v. Hodges that legalized marriage equality in America, some conservative Christians have been downright apoplectic. In a ridiculously offensive analogy, right wing anti-equality zealot Bryan Fischer tweeted:
Channeling a similar anger, though in a more commonly heard form, Fox News commentator Todd Starnes tweeted:
Meanwhile, Rod Dreher of the American Conservative has, in his own words, a more sober analysis of the decision on Times website:
[W]e have to accept that we really are living in a culturally post-Christian nation. The fundamental norms Christians have long been able to depend on no longer exist. To be frank, the court majority may impose on the rest of the nation a view widely shared by elites, but it is also a view shared by a majority of Americans. There will be no widespread popular resistance to Obergefell. This is the new normal.
To which the vast majority of Americans say, Hallelujah! Dreher is correctthe idea of equal treatment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans (if not its full realization yet) is indeed the new normal in America. Even before the courts decision, 6 in 10 Americans supported the right of same-sex couples to marryand over half of Americans said they would be less likely to support any 2016 presidential candidate who opposed marriage equality.

Real Christians will remain steadfast and separate from the world as we always have been. We will adapt because we will never change, just as our God never changes. We will stand for Truth in all situations.
Real Christians have to decide whether to keep quiet out of fear of persecution, join in the pretense that the very few gay “marriages” have some connection to real marriage, or speak the truth. I will speak up.
B/S. We have not yet begun to fight!
How can a non-religious person comment on something like this, they have no idea.
>> There will be no widespread popular resistance to Obergefell.
If they stop at being able to marry, there won’t be popular resistance. Start demanding that two homos can walk into a church for the first time and demand a wedding or lose tax exempt status, and you might meet some resistance.
Satan is the one that will have to adjust.
In the end, he loses.
Christians don’t.
People are lining up. It’s easy to see the entity they have chosen to serve.
In your face, haters! The author of this "epitome of journalistic excellence" hopes you are persecuted, and that you die soon ... cause she is a "humanitarian" ...
My Pastor said this morning from the pulpit that he would have extreme difficulty recommending that young people serve in the armed forces of the United States.
I did a bit of checking around since the decision. Yep. I was right. Homosexuality is still immoral.
I have a message for the religious here on Free Republic.
Satan IS winning in this country. You don’t think so? Homosexuality is CLEARLY condemned in the Word of God. Yet there are denominations (one of the symptoms of the underlying problem) in this country “approving” gay marriage.
At one time, this country had a moral foundation based on the principles found in the bible. That doesn’t mean that every one of the founders was perfect nor that the society was perfect. It wasn’t. But we recognized the value of having a STANDARD to which attempted to attain to and to which we held ourselves.
The LGBT community is only following up on the compromises we have been willing to make over the decades. We can’t fight them unless we go back to adhering to the standards set forth in the word of God.
Study your bible. Put on the armor of God. Fight the good fight. You are fighting for your soul and the souls of your children , family and friends.
The article, full of sweeping quotes claiming that the majority of Americans agree with this decision by the witches in black robes, is a lie, as is the author.
Hey Sally Kohn,
Shove it up your ass.
The church must separate itself from the state. It can no longer certify state licensed marriages.
The role of the church in marriage is to perform a ritual of Holy Matrimony in which a man and a woman pledge their lives together to God and seek to live ion Christ. This has nothing to do with state licenses.
Let the state do what it chooses. The role of the church is to bless the union of one man and one woman in Holy Matrimony.
“I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them.” Yes, persecution is coming for the true believer. In fact, it will help to show who really is and isn’t on the Lord’s side. We are commanded to speak the truth in love (i.e., the message may be offensive but the messenger should not be). Noah preached for 120 yrs. (?) and had zero converts outside of his family. Faithfulness is what is required of a steward and disciple.
Ms. Kohn, God will make sure life moves on without you, too.
Also, The New Post-Homophobic Christianity is the old harlot.
