CRUZ: This July 4th, Americans Want to Believe Again
07/04/15HOUSTON, Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement in observance of Independence Day:
If you are like me and pay attention to the news every day, you can easily be overwhelmed by all the simultaneous events that seem to indicate an impending American decline. But I dont believe that. Everywhere I go, I see it in their faces and hear it in their voices. Americans want to believe again.
On this July 4th, I want to share with you my hope for America.
In the summer of 1776, Patriots gathered to dissolve the political bonds they had with England and declare their independence. The bold call for independence presupposed that the colonists were equal in station to the British Empire. They listed their grievances as justification for the split.
The fifty-six signers from the thirteen colonies affixed their signatures to the document. It could only mean one thing war. Indeed, the American Revolution came.
Today, we live out the Founders promise to America that a free people pursuing their dreams would lead to limitless possibilities.
My father came to America from Cuba in 1957. He had very little money, and spoke little English. My Irish-Italian mother was the daughter of working class parents. Both my parents worked hard and were the first to graduate from college. In a single generation, their son became a United States Senator and now I am running for President of the United States. That could only happen in America.
What I understand is that story is not unique. Most Americans have a similar story in their family history.
These stories demonstrate how America is truly the land of limitless opportunity. The Fourth of July always reminds me of the opportunity America gave my family, and I ask myself, What have I done today to ensure that same opportunity exists for future generations? Were an exceptional nation, and it is up to each of us to keep it that way.
Happy Fourth!

“Ya gotta believe” did get the Mets to a World Series (but not all the way).
Believe again. I like it!
I want to believe again. I did on Sept. 12, 2009 when 2 million of my fellow patriots and I met in Washington for a stroll to the Capitol.
It’s been down hill since. Even after huge gains in 2010, the GOP did nothing with it. Nominated another Democrat in an R jersey in 2012, this one the father of Obamacare.
Huge gains in 2014 are rewarded with funding everything Obama wants.
My district threw out a sitting Majority leader because he was a weasel about to betray us on amnesty. I thought more districts would follow our lead.
Believe again. I like it!
“My district threw out a sitting Majority leader because he was a weasel”
My state tossed Dick Luger out on his ear for taking his conservative constituents for granted.
Some here would say, “Yeah, and he was replaced by a damned Democrat.”
As I listen to the fireworks explode down at the town meadow by the river—I say if we have to destroy the GOP to raise up a conservative party which—instead of `lip service’ every two, four & six years—will actually fight for the lives of unborn children, to protect the 2nd amendment, for real federalism and a sovereign America with safe and secure borders, sane budget and spending policies and jobs for Americans ... well, the sooner we toss-out all of our false friends, the better.
America’s founding fathers. All armed conservatives.
Totally agree. Alison Grimes was the lesser evil in the Ky Senate race.
