Perhaps this woman, who was on immunosuppressive therapy, picked up measles from one of the 5% of people for whom the vaccine doesn’t work. 5% of 250 million is a lot of people. Perhaps the person who passed on the measles to this woman could not vaccinate for other medical reasons. But people will automatically blame those who, for their own reason, have chosen not to vaccinate. Perhaps the person who passed on the measles to this woman was an illegal and had not been vaccinated. Perhaps the person who passed on the measles to this woman was vaccinated when young, and didn’t know that immunity from vaccines can and does wear off as we get older. The WHOLE story would be nice before everyone decides how this poor woman got measles and potentially places blame where it does not belong.
Unlikely. But even if that were the case, without a reservoir of unvaccinated people, with a 5% failure measles would soon die out. The resurgence of measles can only be tied to one cause - the refusal of people to vaccinate their children.
