I've no doubt that some are being blackmailed, but overall, both republicans and democrats have been teaming up to attempt to destroy their common enemy: conservatives.

They all work adamantly to deny conservatives ANY victory. THAT is their motivation. Whatever conservatives want, is to be denied them. Whatever conservatives are against, will be passed with relish.

Not unless the definition of “blackmailed” has been changed to “willing participant”.

The power elite in DC are scared sh!tless of us conservatives and will do ANYTHING to try to destroy us, including mobilizing the witless LIVs as shock troops. We must not take their bait.

I certainly think Roberts has been blackmailed, the GOPe would betray us by acceding to blackmail to retain their power & position.

Indeed - usually with these shocking and incomprehensible turns of events, it's usually a little of both - blackmail and traitor ism.

I believe Obama's people have dirt on Boehner and Roberts for sure.

This isn’t some wacky conspiracy theory. Root was in college exactly the same time as Obama.

I proposed this theory when Trent Lott folded like a cheap lawn chair and got flamed endlessly.

I will be interested to see what happens when the era of cheap money is over with, because that has been the driving force in the current political scheme of things. The establishment Dems and Repubs are lining theirs and their donor friends’ pockets with it and do not like conservatives disrupting any of this. As a result, among other things, Obama gets to continue to run the United States government like the way both Richard Daley Sr and Jr (and other corrupt mayors) ran Chicago City Council.

I don't believe they're being blackmailed. I believe they offer no opposition to Obama's agenda because they're 100% on board with most of it.

They aren't being blackmailed. They aren't conservatives, either.

My hypothesis is that there could be a parasite in the DC municipal water supply that attacks the frontal lobes of the brain and turns everyone living or working inside the Washington Beltway into an emotional, moonbat liberal.

I remember that Obama’s predecessor, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race because of the release of sealed divorce papers. Who knows what the Regime has on any possible opposition.

To me, that question is irrelevant.

This excuse comes up all the time, from Gen Petraeus to Paul Ryan to Justice Roberts.

They all swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, did they not?

If they were/are being blackmailed, they should step down. They freely chose their occupation and if they cannot rightly serve this country, for whatever reason, they are obligated to allow someone else do the job.

If they are acting independently; selling us down the river on their own free will, they not only should step down, but be tarred and feathered as well. Then locked up.

None of us get a pass for breaking the law or violating a contract or being derelict in our duty, and neither should those in power.

If that is the case then conservatives need to find out what each one is being blackmailed with and expose it. They are not doing anyone good and they were liars by making people think they would fix things if elected.

You’re trying to find good in evil men, which is why you think they’re blackmailed. They’re not blackmailed, this is who they are

I have a much simpler explanation. Republicans stand for nothing. They are always for just a little bit less than the Dems. Republicans of today are far to the left of Dems of 40 years ago. They would shame FDR.
Is it possible they are being blackmailed? Of course, I am not so naïve as to think that cannot happen in my dear America.

There was a time when THAT question would have been laughed off...Not now

I am suspicious as well. Could those at the top be this destructive on their own? Maybe, but look at Hastert, for example ... It can and does happen (blackmail, that is).

How about ‘greed’? for both money and power.

Public servant? Representing their constituents? Pffff....
It is a racketeering racket.

Clinton had 1400 FBI files to use for what ever he thought proper. Now with NSA they have everything on everybody.
