When the University of Missouri at Kansas City was looking for a celebrity speaker to headline its gala luncheon marking the opening of a womens hall of fame, one name came to mind: Hillary Rodham Clinton.
But when the former secretary of states representatives quoted a fee of $275,000, officials at the public university balked. Yikes! one e-mailed another.
So the school turned to the next best option: her daughter, Chelsea.
The university paid $65,000 for Chelsea Clintons brief appearance Feb. 24, 2014, a demonstration of the celebrity appeal and marketability that the former and possibly second-time first daughter employs on behalf of her mothers presidential campaign and familys global charitable empire.
More than 500 pages of e-mails, contracts and other internal documents obtained by The Washington Post from the university under Missouri public record laws detail the schools long courtship of the Clintons.
They also show the meticulous efforts by Chelsea Clintons image-makers to exert tight control over the visit, ranging from close editing of marketing materials and the introductory remarks of a high school student to limits on the amount of time she spent on campus.
The schedule she negotiated called for her to speak for 10 minutes, participate in a 20-minute, moderated question-and-answer session and spend a half-hour posing for pictures with VIPs offstage.
As with Hillary Clintons paid speeches at universities, Chelsea Clinton made no personal income from the appearance, her spokesman said, and directed her fee to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

It has to be a 65,000 Hillary campaign contribution for this to make any sense.
What words of wisdom can be expected from a 35 year old overprivileged airhead?
On that subject, I’m afraid this undermines the theory that Webb Hubbell is Chelsea’s real father. He’s a smart dude according to his bio.
Yeah right.
No 'income' except access to lavish free vacations for the rest of her life to anyplace in the world... 'on foundation business'... The trips not only don't cost her a dime, she doesn't even have to pay taxes on the money they cost. And she can invite anyone along as long as it looks like the 'care'. It's bullshit. All free courtesy the 'nonprofit IRS scam business' for elites...
This was a Clinton setup to introduce her to America and start the ball rolling for their dauughta' political career.
Remember with the TOONS, buy one get the other free (well, not exactly FREE), now it is a TRIO and has been from the start. Who couldn't see this when they were first elected..? I did.
the Beast, protected that child and groomed her for this job. I remember reading on how the beast grilled the child and used verbal abuse in order to prepare her for her political future, anybody remember that?
What a great idea! Chelsea provides such a role model for young women: be born to a family in the political elite, go to whatever college you want because the admissions office knows you can pay the rack-rate price without need for a fat scholarship package, marry an investment banker, and get handed a job with a high six-figure paycheck because of who your family is. Every young woman can aspire to follow in her footsteps. She’ll be a really inspirational speaker!
When pissing away money, try to piss away less. I guess I can go along with that.
Although just the act of thinking that Chelsea Clinton could impart some sort of valuable information or inspiration or that she is possessed of anything resembling insight is beyond delusional.
If an organization I was involved with even thought to hire Chelsea Clinton for a speech, I’d be irritated.
UMKC is an embarrassment. Not for academic reasons but for having an administration with no common sense.
Your post #4 is PRICELESS. Love it!
Cut-rate cheese. Now with more mouse turds!
The democrat party uses the colleges as another place for money laundering.
