Ted Cruz has some unsolicited advice for the states not specifically named in last weeks Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage: Ignore it.
Those who are not parties to the suit are not bound by it, the Texas Republican told NPR News Steve Inskeep in an interview published on Monday. Since only suits against the states of Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan and Kentucky were specifically considered in the Supreme Courts Obergefell v. Hodges decision, which was handed down last Friday, Cruz a former Supreme Court clerk believes that other states with gay marriage bans need not comply, absent a judicial order.
[O]n a great many issues, others have largely acquiesced, even if they were not parties to the case, the 2016 presidential contender added, but theres no legal obligation to acquiesce to anything other than a court judgement.
While Cruzs statement may be technically true, federal district and circuit courts are obligated to follow the Supreme Courts precedent and overrule all other states same-sex marriage bans as unconstitutional.
The Texas senator then went on to suggest that Republicans who have called for following the courts decision are members of a Washington cartel and are lying when they say they do not support same-sex marriage.
[Republican Party leaders] agree with the rulings from last week, both the Obamacare ruling and the marriage ruling, Cruz said. [T]he biggest divide we have politically is not between Republicans and Democrats. Its between career politicians in both parties and the American people.

Placing Trump on my tagline is educational.
You may try to deny that, there seems to be a mental block among those who oppose him to rational thought, they’re stuck on emotional feelings, but it is undeniable that many people didn’t know he said that.
“Polls in October 2016 do matter, though they are not totally accurate as we saw last November. But polls in June 2015 in a 16-way primary race where the candidates range from less than 1% to 11% is largely insignificant particularly a national poll.”
I totally agree with that. It’s still too early to get much of read on any particular candidate as none of them have even really started to trend one way or another yet.
If you go back and read my posts this got started because I said I think Ted may have doomed himself with this statement. He’s going to need some voters out of the middle.
I admire his standing on his principles. I just don’t think he’s going to have the support to pull it off given that his own party is not Pro Ted.
Some Friends here obviously got butt hurt because I wouldn’t agree with them that Ted has a lock on it.
I think it was around 4 of the 30-odd states actually voted FOR same sex marriage. Roughly 90% of the time it was put up for a vote, it was voted down, and by margins that are far from partisan.
And yet liberals want to say that everyone who voted against it was a homophobe.
It would be good for the country if the people were educated about judicial review and the idea of judicial supremacy. Even though Cruz didn’t go there, it would be good if the people knew how Jefferson and Saint Lincoln rejected the idea of the Supreme Court as the final arbiter of all constitutional questions. It would be good if the people knew that it was the Sup Court that declared its rulings as final (how convenient) and that they didn’t do that until over 100 years after the nation’s founding.
Having said all of that, I am a pessimist and don’t think it would amount to anything. The idea of judicial supremacy (and finality when the decision is a liberal one) is so firmly entrenched that I doubt it can be undone. Plus Cruz is almost certainly correct in saying that the GOP establishment secretly supports these terrible decisions and is glad to be able to say the matter is now settled we must move on (to the next crushing defeat).
No one is bound by it.
Laws or judicial opinions that violate the laws of nature and nature's God and/or the Constitution are null and void.
No, don’t ignore him. Reveal his weak and shallow expression.
It’s quite obvious he has not grasped the 2012 post-election analysis by several reputable and independent firms. The results of independent analyses clearly pinpointed large blocs of voters of several conservative demographics, both republican and democrat, that were not persuaded to vote for either candidate.
Since 2012 the voter registrations for Independent increased enormously from 24% to an astounding 42% with defecting conservatives attributed to the lion’s share of the expansion.
The sentiment for this defection was clearly symbolized by a young immigrant girl ‘Alexandra’ whose anxieties were on display in a Q&A with Ted Cruz in a NH Town Hall meeting. The exchange starts at time 1:12:40 in the following video:

Time for another Constitional Convention.
Well well what can be done for you then?
If Trump floats your boat, you’ll have plenty of room on board to yourself.
Happy Sailing!
> “Time for another Constitional Convention.”
Wrong.
Time for states to assert there Article V constitutional authority and draft a single smart amendment that gives back the power they lost when the 17th was established.
To this generation, gay marriage is their civil rights victory, comparable in their view to integration or women’s suffrage. Candidates will need to pick battles they can win and turn into votes in the ballot box, else they’re just kidding themselves.
Your points are not trivial. In a sane nation Ted Cruz would not have trouble in California or New York, but that water has long ago gone under the bridge.
Now it's virtually impossible for a non moonbat to take either state.
Living in Texas I would rather we secede and tell Washington to go eff themselves.
We have plenty of oil and other resources to easily sustain ourselves.
Polling in the days ahead of the 2012 election showed Romney ahead.
Romney’s camp “smelled victory”.
Romney responded, with his hand over his heart: Well, thats when you know youre going to win.

I do not know if this is true or not. I suspect great quantities of fraud were perpetrated in Urban areas, and I very much doubt Obama won a fair election.
I think he got close enough that the margin of cheating could be successful.
Romney is no fool. He is very successful at running whatever he has turned his hand too, and if his internal poling had him winning, I do not doubt that it reflected reality better than the announced results.
Obama is a liar and a cheat from the Chicago Mafia and I trust nothing that his taint can influence or manipulate.
Dammit!
Nothing pisses me off like someone who thinks I didn't make my point clearly, and then feel they have to jump in with some sort of confirmation.
I CLEARLY made the point that you are acting emotionally, not rationally.
Don't you insult me and the readers by adding even more confirmation.
I don't need your help.
Buzz off.
Well said, Nana.
Yes, a screaming faggot is just as privileged to marry a woman as is the next guy. (unless they're related)
Thanks for the reminder.
I have to send a few more Bucks to the Cruz Campaign.
Another thing on the to do list for tomorrow.
> “I want a man...a statesman...a leader..You can vote for Lindsey Graham if you want to ..
Um....is Lindsey a man? Wasn’t he in line for a Jennerectomy?
That explains why FOX.com the day after the ruling, had NOTHING on the gay marriage decision, until you scrolled way down. I was shocked.
They want to pander to conservatives but have become liberals, so they went blank.
Oh well. There are lots of other conservative on line news sites.
