ObamaCare is here to stay, the president said in his weekly address, just two days after the Supreme Court upheld provisions of his signature healthcare law.
On Thursday, when the Court upheld a critical part of the Affordable Care Act, it was a victory for hardworking Americans all across this country whose lives are more secure because of this law, President Obama said.
The Affordable Care Act still stands, it is working, and it is here to stay.
His speech came after Thursdays landmark 6-3 Supreme Court that upheld the expansion of health care subsidies into states that didnt set up local exchanges.
Republicans, and the three conservative justices who opposed the majority ruling, criticized the decision over the past two days as judicial overreach.
Obama chided Republican lawmakers for taking more than 50 votes in Congress to repeal or weaken this law, and for spreading misinformation campaigns and doomsday predictions, while outlining its benefits.
If youre a parent, you can keep your kids on your plan until they turn 26. If youre a senior, or an American with a disability, this law gives you discounts on your prescriptions. You cant be charged more just because youre a woman. And you cant be discriminated against just for having a pre-existing condition, he said.
Obama also praised the law for working as its supposed to, and in some ways, better. He counted the more than 16 million people that have received insurance through the law and argued the law has slowed health care prices to its slowest growth in 50 years.

I have always been in favor of universal health care availability.
IMO the only viable form of universal care is a two tier system though...not a Marxist monstrosity like O’care.
I call for two tiers, a private insurance system for those that can pay for it. Unregulated and good across state lines. Cut free from the nightmare of unlimited judgements by civil juries for pain and suffering claims. I say make pain and suffering claims require the entire jury voting yea just like in a criminal case..and even then there must be a dollar limit for all claims. The cost of liability insurance in medicine is unbelievable! It inflates the price of all services and medications.
The second tier would be BASIC care for everyone else. Charity wards, public hospitals staffed by health care students and volunteers...etc. With very strict limits for liability claims by patients. No more government requirements that private hospitals must care for the indigent at their own expense. ER patients would need to be shipped to a public hospital as soon as it is was safe to do so. Such a system is all that the working stiffs in this country can afford.
This would, IMO, be sustainable and fair.
What Obamacare has done is to show how corrupt all three branches of the unconstitutionally big federal government are.
They're waiting to make it out the door and when it goes down they'll crow.. "it didn't happen on our watch"
Weak $hit approach to say the least. By the way.. check what's coming tomorrow.
Puerto Ricos Governor Says Islands Debts Are Not Payable
Gov. Alejandro Garc Padilla plans to discuss the islands fiscal crisis on a televised broadcast on Monday night.
New York Times | by Michael Corkery and Mary Williams Walsh
Puerto Ricos governor, saying he needs to pull the island out of a death spiral, has concluded that the commonwealth cannot pay its roughly $72 billion in debts, an admission that will probably have wide-reaching financial repercussions.
The governor, Alejandro Garc Padilla, and senior members of his staff said in an interview last week that they would probably seek significant concessions from as many as all of the islands creditors, which could include deferring some debt payments for as long as five years or extending the timetable for repayment.
The debt is not payable, Mr. Garc ?Padilla said. There is no other option. I would love to have an easier option. This is not politics, this is math.
“ObamaCare is here to stay”
Is this nation here to stay? Will Obamacare outlive the nation?
marriage was here to stay.
border security was here to stay.
american dignity was here to stay.
sorry, 0failure, 0bamacare will be dumped into the dumpster at the first opportunity
Good grief!
He must be awfully insecure to need to keep repeating it every day!
I can't help wondering why.
Hey Doofus!
Nothing is forever!
I am with you all he does is lie he is shameful.
Obamacare is here to stay.....until President Cruz takes an ax to it.
[[doesnt the subsidy fund run dry in a couple of years... that should be fun]]
They’ll just take the rest of the SS fund to pay for it
The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success.
- Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf)
They said that about ancient Rome, too.
If Obama wants his name forever attached to the cluster**** that is US healthcare, great! But Obamacare doesn't make health care more affordable, and it doesn't deliver more health, and no matter what he says, it still won't.
NOT working, my co pay went from 20 to 165
