RE: John Roberts: I cant help but think this decision opens the door to legal polygamy
I can’t help but think that John Robert’s decisions on Obamacare opens the door to the Supreme Court legislating our healthcare.
Thus, you can't be "discriminated" against for your marital status when applying for a marriage license.
I'm not even a lawyer and even I could argue that before the court. Polygamy in all 50 states is a done deal.
Duh.
Heck, it’s no longer polygamy or bigamy. It’s now polyamory, or any combination and number of participants folks might come up with.
This whole thing looks scripted.
First he’s his traitorous self. Spits in the face of the Constitution, then insults us all with his BS explanation.
Then an hour later, this comes out, a phony vote when he knew the decision already.
He’s either being blackmailed, or he’s gay and afraid to come out of the closet. Or both.
Polygamy makes a hell of a lot more sense than sodomy, so there’s nothing stopping it.
Can I marry Barack or Michelle and we are all married together? How about farm animals? Can I marry my daughters? Or maybe a 5 year old boy? Kim says that the 14th amendment gives me/she/he/it equal protection under the law. Kim knows, she is famous and famous people know better! I'm not sure why she is famous but she is famous like me. Maybe it's a black thing? Kimmy likes those. Should I make a porn tape too? I'm coming out with my own line of lube products. They will be called Caitlyn Jenner's Slippery Stuff. I could show people how it works if I make a video. Do they have photoshop for videos? I will need that first.
The president said ni**er this week. My word for the week us anus. It is OK to say that word now because everything is OK now. John Roberts told me so.
I'm richer than you and I live in Malibu!
Love, Braitlyn.
"The man who wants two wives has never had two wives."
My personal opinion is he giving some great advice.
I could not care less if this ushers in polygamy. Normalizing homosexuality and is a far worse social ill IMO than polygamy.
Polygamy will be here in less than five years
The huge mistake was giving them the word MARRIAGE. Redefining something after many thousands of years? No. Leave marriage alone and enjoy the same legal privileges.
Now, the snowball is down the slope and polygamists have a great argument.
Why doesn't everyone get married to each other, then sign up for ONE insurance plan with everyone else named as an additional insured, which typically does not increase the premiums once you get past three or so dependents.
Maybe THAT would do in Obamacare.
My worst fear is that, now, the federal government and courts will force churches to marry same sex couples or whoever the government sees fit. To me, marriage has always been a religious institution that the government has slowly crept in and took over. If their church allows it, people can “marry” their dog or dolphin for all I care; but once the government starts dictating to me and my church who to marry, once people start suing churches on the pretense of “violating their civil right” as they sue bakeries and photographers, that marks yet another encroachment on our religious liberty—in which case, by that time, there may be none; because the government would have dictated what it is you can and cannot believe in.
Well, no limits were put on abortion in roe v wade, and so you can murder the innocent baby all the way up 9 months. In order to put limits the court would have had to come up with good reasons for those limits. Since they don’t have any good reasons they just ignored it.
oh lets not pretend to be alarmed.......we have been slaughtering over 1000 babies before they are born EVERY WEEK, FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS. This is just a small clod of dirt thrown onto a 40 year old grave.
Boy, THERE'S A FIRST.
There is no argument against polygamy now. What? Gays are going to get all “Conservative” all of a sudden on this?
Going to get me three or four husbands and two more wives. Should take some of the pressure off with all the work around here. They all have to be excellent fundraisers, gardeners, salespeople and maintenance. Best part is I won’t have to hire them as they are my spouses. Hallelujah!
Yep. If Loving is valid precedent for same-sex marriage, why wouldn’t Loving and Obergefell be valid precedents for polygamy (or for that matter consanguinous marriages)? The simple answer is that they will be, whether Roberts said anything about it or not. In law as in...the other thing...it’s never, ever just the tip.
