Her speech, weaving historical events with present crises, was replete with some subtle and other not so subtle hints that she believed Britain belonged in the European Union her most public stance yet that she wished to avoid Britain voting to leave in a referendum.

Breaking: German royalty wants UK to remain int he German monetary union
She might be feeble-minded at this point...can’t say for sure. I’ve never met the lady. Her appreciation of Corgis is a mitigating factor.
What do you excpect. Her speeches are written by the Foreign Office.
The Queen never writes her own speech. It is written by her government. All she does is deliver it.
Well, they still have the pound sterling currency, so they aren’t in the eurozone. However, they are directly affected by eurozone monetary policy.
What a great way to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta Liberatum — abolish it (and England’s sovereignty along with it)!
MooseShell cares about Britain?
Leave. Others will follow.
The European Union will not last.
That's a tough offer to ignore..
How many others?
I’d say that the EU’s purpose of consolidating the Teutonic bloc has been met. That is what must be reversed.
Did she say that at some point?
I do believe that the precedent of Britain leaving would influence others to do so. I don’t believe Europe will be a cohesive entity over the long haul.
Do I think there are others that would drop out this week, or within a month? No. I do believe others will leave and I think Britain will have paved the way for that, if it leaves.
Any of the eurozone members already have a degree of fanatical devotion to their particular subset of the EU. They will stay. A number of others are just too socialist-minded to even think of leaving that empire.
You may be right and I may be wrong.
We will see over time.
As a kid I studied the old Biblical idol of Babylon. Head of gold on down to the feet of clay and iron.
The feet of clay and iron were supposedly non-binding, and would never stick together. That was supposed to be Europe.
The theory may be stricken down over time and proven not to be true, but it’s something that has always stuck with me, and I still nod to it on this issue.
Could be I’ll look pretty foolish as time passes and the E.U. survives.
She has no control over succession. That is taken care of by the Act of Settlement of 1701. Charles is heir apparent.
Just remember that the toes of that statue needed to be smashed by the stone that came from heaven.
It’s pointed out that the mixture of iron and clay would retain the strength of the iron, but have severe internal divisions as portrayed by the iron and the clay that do not mix together.
Most authorities recognize that the Babylonian idol represents four world-ruling empires whose rulers have the title “king of the world”, from the Chaldean (the head of gold) to the Medo-Persian (silver arms and chest) and the Greek (abdomen and thighs of brass) right down to the Romans (legs of iron and feet of iron/clay). A great deal of the EU elites still hold to the ideal of the Holy Roman Empire to this day.
The Queen traveled to Germany to kiss Merkels ring and pledge fealty to the EU because she knows a Brexit (an abbreviation of “British exit”) would send the UK down the crapper and then the angry peasants will come for her head.
Thanks for your additional comments. Interesting subject actually.
Take care.
