One of my ancestors, Benjamin Thomas, was a black Confederate cook, and I do not want to turn my back on his service to the South.
my ancestors were cooks to Confederate slaveowners. They were called house negroes. Didn’t get paid either. They weren’t servants to the South. They were slaves who didn’t know they were free until around 1867.
If this guy wants to support the Confederate flag, ok, but hope he knows the Confederate Constitution supported slavery.
If you want to support the American flag, ok, but I hope you know that the American Constitution supported slavery.

Of course it supported slavery since that was their way of harvesting crops in an agrarian society just like everywhere else in the world at time. It would have ended with the invention of the steam engine anyway and not needed to kill 500,000 whites.
If you are so incensed about slavery why aren’t you doing something about slavery in Africa?

Few Americans who go back several generations in this country are "pure" in any sense, which makes nonsense of "sins of our fathers" since we all have the same fathers! I invite you to read the continuing saga of the very white-looking Henry Louis Gates and Ben Affleck on Breitbart. Ben is so ashamed of his ancestry, that he tried to hide it and Gates tried to help him!!
The fact is that there is a cachet and romance attached to the "Lost Cause" in the South, which is the thing that the left is trying to destroy, to shame southerners into abandoning. The fact is, this romance accounts for a lot of the cultural success of the south, the rich religious heritage, the art and music, the land and the voices. I happen to love the south, but I detest Democrats like Earnest Hollings who put the rebel battle flag of northern Virginia on the dome of the capitol in ***1961*** in a defiant gesture against integration. I do think the real flags of the Confederacy have a place at memorials and museums..and nobody can kill the magnificent "Gone With the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell, which was really a farce that lampooned all that was pretentiously southern. Margaret was not Scarlett.
I'm a direct descendant of a soldier who fought for the Union and I have no problem whatsoever with the Confederate Battle Flag.......You should also be aware that there were northerners who also supported slavery. But that's left for another thread............
This whole confederate flag issue has been stewing for over a decade and only now, following the killing of those blacks by a drug addled white kid, is it going to be addressed via knee jerk libtards and their sycophant republicans ...............
