U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, Mississippi Republican, said Wednesday he believes the state flag of Mississippi, which features the Confederate emblem, should be replaced.
“After reflection and prayer, I now believe our state flag should be put in a museum and replaced by one that is more unifying to all Mississippians,” Mr. Wicker said in a statement. “As the descendant of several brave Americans who fought for the Confederacy, I have not viewed Mississippi’s current state flag as offensive. However, it is clearer and clearer to me that many of my fellow citizens feel differently and that our state flag increasingly portrays a false impression of our state to others.”
The push to change or remove Confederate symbols has picked up in the wake of last weeks shooting deaths at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C. The suspected gunman has a history of association with white supremacist sites and an image of him with the Confederate flag has surfaced online.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and other political leaders in South Carolina called earlier in the week to remove the Confederate flag from state Capitol grounds in Columbia.

The question we should be asking is
(1) what hath GOD wrought
(2) how hath MAN screwed it up
(3) how can MAN turn back to GOD

I guess now the Southern Repubicans are going to behave like ISIS and destroy all “evidence” that we ever had a civil war. What’s next, removing it from our text books? With all the “real problems” we face as a nation, it’s reprehensible that this crap surfaces as “important.”
I mean just how does any of this affect the issues Black Americans have?

Possession or display of any symbols of the Confederacy should be made a Federal Crime punishable by lengthy imprisonment. A second offense should get the death penalty. When that is accomplished we can work on other symbols of hated Independence and Liberty. The American Flag is a worthy target in the future.

Couldn’t Wicker at least be original, and not use the same dumb “museum” talking point used by Jeb Bush, Obama and really everyone else lately?
The people of Mississippi voted on this not that long ago. Respect them, you sad pandering politician.
Mississippi is a state that’s last or near last in so many things: Education, obesity, etc. It’s the poorest state in the union, and Wicker is worried about a flag.

I agree if people haven’t by now seen that the news media is the enemy and the problem they never will. The media is driving this hysteria based on a single act by a single individual . The media is using this single act to take away everyone’s freedom of speech
Then you might want to commit some sober thought to the attributes of "citizenship", consider carefully the nature of the people complaining, and re-evaluate that designation of "fellow citizens".
