U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, Mississippi Republican, said Wednesday he believes the state flag of Mississippi, which features the Confederate emblem, should be replaced.
After reflection and prayer, I now believe our state flag should be put in a museum and replaced by one that is more unifying to all Mississippians, Mr. Wicker said in a statement. As the descendant of several brave Americans who fought for the Confederacy, I have not viewed Mississippis current state flag as offensive. However, it is clearer and clearer to me that many of my fellow citizens feel differently and that our state flag increasingly portrays a false impression of our state to others.
The push to change or remove Confederate symbols has picked up in the wake of last weeks shooting deaths at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C. The suspected gunman has a history of association with white supremacist sites and an image of him with the Confederate flag has surfaced online.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and other political leaders in South Carolina called earlier in the week to remove the Confederate flag from state Capitol grounds in Columbia.

GOOD
And it isn’t going to stop at the flag or other icons.
The nightmare here is that the “sleeping giant” has been awakened. And I don’t mean the Dim Party. I mean their supporters who where just laying around on their fat a**es. They smell blood in the water and here they come.
This is the tip of a very large iceberg.
You didn't believe that two weeks ago..................
Yep... where’s personal devotion to God in this picture.
If we can erase the memories, we can erase the constitution.
American have become a bunch of politically correctified yellow bellies.
But then look at the last election. We gave the GOP control of Congress and got what? More collaboration with Obama, continued Obamacare and fuding for illegal alien invaders. And any COngressmen with the courage to stand up is getting threatened by that lower than a snale bastard Boehner the Bagman and McConnell the Turkey Neck.
The flag was chosen by a statewide referendum in the past. Let me decide again
The professional grievance mongers have decided that a flag is responsible for murders performed by a madman.
WHEN WHEN WHEN will our honorable officials tire of being run up and down strings like so many yo-yos. Grr.
You expected something good out of mere “princes”?
Yet another RINO coward.
Agreed and well-stated.
Wait until the Lefties realize that the flag of a certain northwestern liberal state (Wa..ington) prominently features the portrait of a slaveowner!
Not only that, but this state, the nation’s capital, cities, towns, counties, boulevards and colleges throughout the country bear the name of this “racist slaveowner”
I happen to carry a few copies of his portrait in my wallet most of the time.
The Prince of this world is Satan. And I am beginning to think he is sitting in the White House.
Well, of course, shouldn’t all of history be dictated by the misinformed neurotically crippled few?
On Big Ears’ shoulder
If people in Mississippi don’t say anything then they get what they deserve.
But that is a distraction. I mean devotion to God has left the picture. People are just complaining about politicians like they were expect to be saviors. News Flash! There is but one Savior.
A Republic of Virtue is what the Founding Fathers left us. We have allowed it be succeeded by a Congress of harlots.
Under what ridiculous pretense do these GOP “leaders” believe this will make one iota of difference in their public perception? The left labeled them racists yesterday, and will label them racist tomorrow. The African American community will continue to vote overwhelmingly in favor of the Democrats.
