I would agree with you, the only difference being that I think women are more into political-correctness than guys.
Let me introduce you to a natural born American who managed to reach middle age without ever being proud of her country:
Eye bleach, anyone?
I would prefer that state governments get out of the vanity plate business altogether, but there is too much easy money to be made with them to hope realistically for that. If a group like Planned Parenthood can have a vanity plate, but the SCV can't, what does that say about our government?
Do you really think they could transfer the American mind to their daughter, when they did not have it themselves? How do you know they did not have "American" minds? They came here and successfully made a better life for themselves and their daughter, did they not? What is more American than that?
It is impossible to cross a border and leave your alien ways of thinking at the border. And how, pray tell, do you know that this is the case 100% of the time? I had friends in high school and college who came here from Vietnam and Cambodia ("boat people"). They had given up any loyalties they had to their countries of origin even BEFORE they left, and they were/are some of the most loyal Americans I have ever known.
Becoming Americanized doesnt happen overnight. It can. If a person comes here because they love this country.
If you moved to Mexico, how long would it take for you to imbibe all the subtle nuances of Mexican life? And loyalties? Irrelevant question. I am not planning on emigrating to Mexico. I am an American and a Virginian. My loyalty is to the Constitutions of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
PS - What does any of this have to do with Ann Coulter being off her game?
Why do you wonder that?
1.) I have read comments from people who live in South Carolina. They disagree with Haley, and will invariably start off by saying that they had ancestors who fought and died under that flag...
2. “Better life” There is more to a nation than just economic well being. Lincoln referred to... . “The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land...” He was referring to healing the discord in the land. There are no mystic chords of memory with millions of immigrants invading the country. Look up the Balkans.
3. I would bet anything that Nikki Haley loves this country. She just has a different take on history. She has no mystic chords of memory with Southern history and tradition. It is not possible.
4. Alien ways of thinking. Assimilation. Historically, that has been the case. Now it is the exception.
5. Immigrating to Mexico? Conceptual thinking. I was only trying to show the dynamics of immigration and the perspective of immigrants. I have been in the presence of immigrants who sneer at America (are you familiar with LaRaza), and I have been in the presence of immigrants who love America.
Like everybody else on this site, I make comments that I believe. But I cannot, like everybody else cannot, expound limitlessly on what I am saying. About 25 years ago, I wrote an article for a college class about multiculturalism and I predicted what is now taking place. Some students read it and said, yeah, yeah, that’s right, then a few would frown, and say...what you say.
“How do you know they did not have “American” minds? They came here and successfully made a better life for themselves and their daughter, did they not? What is more American than that? “
We have all sorts of illegal vermin from Central America who do the same thing.
Can you really believe that that means they are ‘more American’?
Better think about what you type.
I never said anyone was “more American” than anyone else. Those are YOUR words.
“Better think about what you type” when you’re going to take people’s comments out of context.
“I never said anyone was more American than anyone else. Those are YOUR words.
Better think about what you type when youre going to take peoples comments out of context.”
I took those directly from your words in post #65.
Did someone hack your account and place them there or can you not read as well as write?
Eat our own to advance media careers.
You apparently do not understand the meaning of the word “context”.
Now, I’m not going to waste any more time with you today.
The Civil War was over an economic system that relied on slaves and the ability of that system to survive and spread west. Of the three states we’ve lived in, Arizona was a territory divided in its sympathy at the Mogollon Rim. Nevada is controlled by Clark County and Reid. Nice state in the rural areas. Oregon is a little to the left of Obama although there are good people in the south and east of the state.
I’m in favor of abolishing the federal Education dept, EPA , DHS, OSHA and so on because the individual states should approach their specific problems. That would take a president and congress that seems unlikely. I’ve met, and in some cases know my local, state and federal representatives- corruption of the kind law enforcement turns a blind eye to is rampant. I’d imagine Oregon would be more environmentally socialist given its head.

“
The ‘context’ you used was saying it made one an American if one bettered themselves and their kids.
All illegals, save those who wish to rape our women or sell drugs, seek the same things.
Being American is far, far more than what you said.
And I think the ones you have tried to oink are correct> being American also is about knowing what made America great. Haley obviously does not know that history.
“The Civil War was over an economic system that relied on slaves and the ability of that system to survive and spread west.”
There never was a Civil war in this country. It was a war between States.
The South never intended to take over the North, which is what would have been necessary to have a Civil war.
and BTW, it was about States rights, the dilution of which we are suffering still today.
