Very smart thing for cops to do.
#1 Helps put him in frame of mind to talk.
#2 Lawyer cannot claim he only confessed to get food, was mistreated, low blood sugar, etc.

Great thinking!
I was thinking along the same line.
If they hadn’t fed him a slimy lawyer would have screamed bloody murder before the scumbag even sees a judge.
This jerks conviction HAS to be without blemish.

On the other hand, if they got a confession, I suppose his lawyer could then argue that his client (who can’t be a mental giant) was coerced or bribed into doing so by the offer of a Burger King meal.

...and there is a LOT to talk about, at least at that time. Was he alone? Did he have help in buying the weapons? Was he on drugs? Perhaps a new drug that causes that kind of reaction (like PCP in the 80s)? A rather endless list, seems that the cops were handling it fine. Plenty of time to give him the drip (assuming SC can get their hands on the meds).

+1 and it is the law in many locales. Prisoners must be fed.
