Karl Rove made an appearance on Fox News Sunday and said the only way to stop gun violence is to repeal the Second Amendment and “remove guns from society.”
The subject was the tragic shooting at Charleston, South Carolina’s Emanuel African Methodist Church.
WALLACE:How do we stop the violence?
ROVE: I wish I had an easy answer for that, but I dont think theres an easy answer
We saw an act of evil. Racist, bigoted evil, and to me the amazing thing is that it was met with grief and love. Think about how far weve come since 1963. The whole weight of the government throughout the South was to impede finding and holding and bringing to justice the men who perpetrated the [Birmingham] bombing.
And here, we saw an entire state, an entire community, an entire nation come together, grieving as one and united in the belief that this was an evil act, so weve come a long way.
Now maybe theres some magic law that will keep us from having more of these. I mean basically the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and until somebody gets enough oomph to repeal the Second Amendment, thats not going to happen.

The Bushes and their minions suck.
There are a lot of Social Media fasely implying that Fove was advocating repeal of the 2nd amendment. All he was doing was showing how laws against guns do not deter violence and stating that short of repealing the 2nd amendment which he said will never happen the gun laws are useless against a determined killer. So those who are trying to falsely accuse Rove need to pull in their claws.
Chuckle! I’d like to see this rotund, effeminate, flabby bodied homo boy try and seize my guns. Why is this fool.still on television anyways? Isn’t he the same fool who got the 2012 elections totally wrong? As I recall he has not been right on anything for years. How is he even relevant?
Not really a lot for him to explain.
Rove is right: the only way to get rid of guns is to get rid of the Second Amendment.
Which requires 2/3rds of the Congress and 3/4ths of the states.
We should welcome any attempt by the Libs to go this route. First because it is the proper Constitutional route to follow and second because it will have predictable results.
Ever read B’rer Rabbit and the Briar Patch?
These businesses that ban firearms on their property should be held accountable for any crimes that occurr on their property.
They afterall are responsible for protecting the safety of their customers while they’re on the premises.
It’s time to hold them responsible.
WOW! He really does support a feudal society. He makes me sick. Oh well time to buy that KRISS I been checking out.
The only people in Ubers with guns will be criminals (and me, if I ever use one, cause I could care less about their stupid sign).
Note to Rove: There are two words in the participating in the phrase "gun violence." Remove the gun, and you change nothing. Remove the violence, and you change everything.
The gun would disappear but the violence will increase.
But Rove doesn’t care. His bodyguards aren’t armed with scissors
Write the scenario:
1. Repeal second amendment.
2. Congress writes it’s vague law to cover X, and Y. Fifty states write their own laws to cover Z.
3. The Supremes start to have a dozen cases per year starting almost immediately about the legality of the laws from federal and state level. No one refuses to hand over their guns and several cops are assaulted as they attempt to take guns. Cops soon just look the other way and refuse to confiscate guns by federal or state law.
4. Mass shootings continue.
5. Violent crimes continue.
6. In strict states....the number of assault and murder victims double within three years. The news media can’t explain this puzzling number.
7. Around year four, someone starts a campaign to write the second amendment back into the Constitution. By year six, it’s now written back in and accepted nationally.
But the real point is that Karl Rove has never been either the brilliant strategist, that he has somehow persuaded Republican "moderates" or the Bush family, that he was. I have been trying to wake fellow Republicans up to his combination of unprincipled incompetence, since he grossly mismanaged the 2000 election--the one almost lost by chicanery in Florida.
Republican Disaster--2006; etc., etc.
The Genie escaped the bottle back around 1335 AD. All the King’s horses and all the King’s men cannot get the Genie in the bottle again.
years ago, a book critic praised the development of gunpowder after reading THE CITIES OF THE FLESH by Zoe Oldenbourg. He said it made sieges shorter and less bloody.
Ater he says the bit about getting rid of the second amendment he also says “I don’t think that will work” (or something close to that.)
In other words he is not advocating getting rid of all guns he is saying to anyone who will listen:
“ There is no political solution to this societal problem”
Once again FR people have a need to turn an innocent statement into something it is not and then bash the hell out of the author
It makes FR look like a joke
If you don’t like Karl Rove thats fine but he is not necessarily the enemy of conservatives
certainly not on this matter
If that isn’t living in a dream world, I don’t know what is. Repealing the 2nd Amendment will do nothing to stop criminals from acquiring guns. Nothing to date has stopped them. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
Repealing the 2nd Amendment has about as much chance as Obama serving a 3rd term. Aint going to happen!
Karl Rove should be tarred and feathered and run out of the US on a rail for proposing to do away with the Second Amendment. Sheeseh!
And demand that all of your fellow Leftists do the same!
On the other hand, the Second Amendment was created and designed to keep tyrannical “politicians” from “repealing” it.
It was Rove that pushed the Bush Administration in the direction of greater Federal intrusion into local education; into greater Federal intrusion into local health care. It was Karl Rove, who was behind banning Congressman Tancredo from the White House, because Tancredo championed a Conservative immigration policy.
Rove has always promoted a fallacious & misleading view of what was pragmatic, at the expense of traditional American values. He epitomizes the morally & intellectually bankrupt approach to contemporary politics--the loss of an ethical compass, which is destroying the West.

Do you agree with the statement that if we could remove all guns from society, there would be no gun violence? (By definition, this statement is correct since it would be impossible to have gun violence without guns.)
Do you agree with the statement that no one has enough “oomph” to repeal the 2nd Amendment?
If you agree with both of these statements, then you agree with Rove.
