That statement is somewhat misleading. The perps were shooting at him. When you're the target, it's a little bit off course to give you a hero badge, unless the shooting was unprovoked. One suspects it wasn't.

Right! Now all they have to do is figure out how to make a gun law more strict than a total gun ban, which if I'm not mistaken is the current law in Chicago. I know that a recent USSC decision said that Il's strict state gun law was unconstitutional, but I don't know if that decision also applied to Chicago's gun laws. But in either case, I'm sure that Chicago's gun laws are still as strict as the city's Nazis can possibly make them without running afoul of the USSC ruling.
