There are people here on FR who are way more knowledgeable about firearms than me, but I believe on a semi-auto, the slide is back after the last round is fired from the magazine.
Half-wit knew it was empty.

The only way this would be possible is if he had a bad mag where it didn't catch the slide lock to hold it open.
I've had this happen from time to time - mag adjustment and you're good to go.
So while possible he pulled the trigger on an empty chamber, I rather think it's a story.

Exactly. He was using a G41 Glock. Glocks lock back after the last round. They have 10 or 13 rd capacity. I am calling BS on this story doesn't make sense. It smells of a tall tale made up for attention.

He might have been a tad rattled, don’t you think?

And, it sure didn’t go click when he pulled the trigger either.

Not all semis lock the slide back when the last round is fired. It is also very possible to fire the last shot and not notice the slide is locked back - lots of noise and no ear protection have an effect and not telling how he was holding the weapon when firing the last few rounds - might not have been in line of sight.
