Republican strategist Karl Rove said on Fox News Sunday the only way to stop gun-related violence, like the Wednesday massacre at Emmanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston S.C., was to repeal American citizens Second Amendment rights.rWhat do you think?
When Chris Wallace asked Rove how we can, stop the violence, the long-time gun-rights advocate stated that we have made great strides as a nation in empathizing with the victims of these types of shootings, but the only way to guarantee they will stop is to remove guns from society.r1
WALLACE: How do we stop the violence?rWhat do you think?
ROVE: I wish I had an easy answer for that, but I dont think theres an easy answerrWhat do you think?
We saw an act of evil. Racist, bigoted evil, and to me the amazing thing is that it was met with grief and love. Think about how far weve come since 1963. The whole weight of the government throughout the South was to impede finding and holding and bringing to justice the men who perpetrated the [Birmingham] bombing.rWhat do you think?
And here, we saw an entire state, an entire community, an entire nation come together, grieving as one and united in the belief that this was an evil act, so weve come a long way.rWhat do you think?
Now maybe theres some magic law that will keep us from having more of these. I mean basically the only way to guarantee that we will dramatically reduce acts of violence involving guns is to basically remove guns from society, and until somebody gets enough oomph to repeal the Second Amendment, thats not going to happen.

Rove sounds senile.
You are right about Rove in this piece.
>>> No principles involved which is Roves MO in the end.
In the end, his $$$$ won’t protect him.
Karl Rove is right. Unless we have a government that comes so powerful that it can rid us of guns, this will be a problem. I am OK with that.
Rove made exactly the same arguement I’ve made with Liberals for years now.
The only way to stop gun violence is to get rid of guns.
The only way to get rid of guns is to repeal the 2nd Amendment.
Liberals are more than welcome to try. There are 300 million or so guns in the hands of 100 million private citizens. An amendment requires 2/3rds votes in both houses of Congress AND agreement by 3/4ths of the states.
Attempts at lower levels of gun control helped remove Democrats from Congress in 1994 and 2010. It cost them the Presidency in 2000. The post-Newtown measures helped solidify GOP dominance of state legislatures, resulted in multiple successful recall elections and helped return the Senate to GOP control in 2014.
So I’m with Rove on this, strongly encourage Liberals to go for it.
Attempting to repeal the Second Amendment would accelerate violence. That is a red line that may not be crossed.
My very first reaction to this young man’s violent shooting act at the Church was, “Wow, this is what the Welfare State has created - millions of boys who live with moms, families with AWOL Dads, and on Ritalin to ‘control’ their violent tendencies. Thanks, Democrats, for encouraging out of control boys...”
Why wasn’t this Rove’s initial and instinctive reaction?
My LAST reaction, thanks to common sense and John Lott’s research would have been - “Gee - we need to get rid of the 2nd amendment & guns.”
WTH? Rove’s WAY OFF the rails.
LOL!
Rove is in the same league as boehner, both worthless conservative haters
Wow he’s really gone totally nuts.
Government force can mold a perfect world. All hail Leviathan!
I wonder what all the Rove/Bush lovers will have to say about this.
To even associate gun violence with the 2nd Amendment shows Rove’s viewpoint.
Fine. The headline still over stated the case. That was my ONLY point.
Period. End of discussion. Take your paranoia......elsewhere.
No paranoia, Rove exposed his own incompetent understanding of the 2nd Amendment.
that was NOT MY POINT....if you can’t see that the headline was over stated, then, well, I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you.
What is overstated is your reaction in defending Rove because of a bad headline!
I’m not defending Rove. That’s just foolish to say so. My point is that there is so much legit to go after Rove on, there is no need for a misleading header. You cheapen your case when you take it to thinner ice.
Would you like to compare anti Rove credibility by any chance?
Criminals don't have guns because of the 2nd Amendment.
