—While Romneys motivations for doing this are unknown,...—
Well, why don’t we ask him? Not that his answer would be acceptable.
Mitt - can you say states’ rights? How about the 10th amendment? Any of that sound familiar?
So, as long as you can find some people, somewhere, to whom something is (or can be made into) a "symbol of racial hatred," then that is grounds to prohibit it?
Regards,
Exactly what the Left is going for here... once this passes, then ANY symbol raised by us Hate-filled Right-Wing Evil folks can be abolished... including that more common stars and stripes flag, too.
Very few of these anti-Confedreate flag geniuses know much about the Confederacy period . Over 80% of the Confederate soldiers who fought in the Civil War were not fighting to preserve slavery in the south . They came from homes with no slaves and no interest in the slave issue . I think these anti-Confederate iceholes ought to go back and study the Civil War for the real and accurate facts regarding this majority of the southern fighting force against the unbalance of northern trade and taxes imposed on southerners during the 1860s . Lincoln used the slavery issue to get re-elected in his second term and he had a plan to re-colonize the blacks in South America using federal money to buy them back from the slave owners . Our American history today the way it’s taught is a real sham ,,,, and btw I am not a racist or a believer in any man owning another person regardless of race or religion just someone who knows history better than the anti-Confederate iceholes who protest the flag so vigorously . BTW there were several flags used by the Confederacy and the flag most are upset by was not called the Stars and Bars . That was an entirely different flag . The flag that has the blue X with stars in it was either the Confederate Jack a ships flag if it was rectangular and all battle flags were perfectly square in three different sizes depending on whether it was for the artillery , Cavalry or Infantry .
The Confederate Flag - the battle flag that was used from July 21, 1861 after the First Battle of Bull Run is a symbol of racial hatred. Does Romney know his history. The nation of Saudi Arabia still has slaves come from Africa. What about the history of slavery in the Empire of Great Britain under the Union Jack.
So the Cross of St. Andrews was adopted by the Confederate States of America and added the stars on it. So the flag symbolizes hatred?
What about the flag of the United States of America does that symbolize hatred too? 300,000 slave owners fought for the Union Army during the US Civil War. What about the deaths of the many Native Americans that were gunned down by the soldiers for the land development in America.
Please Romney go back to your Mormon enclave and tear down your cult’s flag as it too represents hatred and needless heinous deaths at the hands of cult leaders. Romney the idiot mormon who is stuck on stupid!
Typical liberal ‘symbolism over substance’ issue where there’s no viable real-world answer.
I'm thinking of putting one ON my truck. Might as well get this thing started and do my part while I still can.
Leftists/Libs/Progressives whine and bleeding hearts join their cause because those bleeding hearts are afraid of being accused of not being sensitive.

The calls for bans differ little from ISIS/ISIL destroying antiquities, except the cries for bans come from the progressives/Liberals for their own political/social advancement.
Both ideologies are equally destructive.
Face it, Romney represents big $$$$$$$$$, all GOP hopefuls 'need to' bow before him and kiss his ring. (Well, maybe not the Donald.) The question is how do we know THE eventual GOP hopeful will keep our interests in mind after the election? The answer is 'no, we can't and they won't'.
Hey Mitt, if I want any s*** out of you, I'll squeeze your head.
It’s the same deal with the swatiska. Hitler and his Nazi goons took a well loved symbol and ruined it for the rest of us.
Romney is not getting my votes for anything.
Liberals won't attack your truck when there's a possibility that you're anywhere near it, cowards that they are, they'll wait until it's parked in a super market parking lot, then "key" the hell out of it.
Yes, I know what you'd do if you caught them but you won't catch them.
Romney, you are an ass!
Jeb BUSH is also an ass.
Absolutely right on. The flag in question is flying at a memorial to Confederate Soldiers, most of whom did not care about slavery. Many fought simply to defend their families and homes from an invading force that sought burn the South to the ground. That flag must be allowed to remain in place.
Shut up, Mitt.
Go guzzle a bourbon....it might do you some good.
It is an historic symbol of the Old South. Many of my ancestors fought and died under that flag during the Civil War. And many of our cities and towns are named after them. As such, I will give it the same respect they did and honor the Confederate flag in their namesake.
Liberals disrespect much more than this flag. They hate its people, culture, and a country that no longer exists. As they rewrite history to assert their views, a new generation of rebels wait patiently and endure.
Seeing the rebel flag flapping in the breeze, liberals will instinctively lie and say it stands for slavery and injustice, of racism and hate for black people and other minorities. But we know this isn’t true. Instead we are reminded that once upon a time our ancestors found it necessary to abolish (by secession) and re-institute a new form of representative government. And that we do not have to accept the tyranny of an over-reaching government and the elites that would tell us how to think and live our lives.
Who knows, maybe the South will rise again. Remember, nothing is forever except Jesus. Leave us alone to honor our dead and our culture as we see fit. And let the Confederate battle flag fly to remind us the battle never ends until HIS kingdom comes. Amen.
