NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/ AP) — Following the arrest of a white man Thursday in connection with the slayings of nine people, including the pastor, at a prayer meeting inside a historic black church in downtown Charleston, President Obama said he has had to deliver these remarks too often.
“The attorney general has announced plans for the FBI to open a hate crime investigation,” Obama said from the White House.
“We understand that the suspect is in custody and I’ll let the best of law enforcement do its work to make sure that justice is served. Until the investigation is complete, I’m necessarily constrained in terms of talking about the details of the case. But I don’t need to be constrained about the emotions that tragedies like this raise,” Obama said.
“I’ve had to make statements like this too many times. Communities like this have to endure tragedies like this too many times. We don’t have all the facts, but we do know once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun. Now is the time for mourning and healing but let’s be clear. At some point we have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency.”

I have a criminal defense practice, and am accustomed to being lied to by my clients. But none of them have ever reached the ability to deliver an outrageous obviously patent lie with a straight face the way Barack Hussein 0bama does.

“This Doesn’t Happen In Other Advanced Countries”
Oh, but it does, and in countries not so very advanced, either. In the sense that ALL crimes are motivated by hate, this is not any more of a “hate crime” than the assault that was attempted in Dallas just this past week. That was an outright terrorist attack, meant to intimidate the police and break down the civil order. Only because the assault on the police was more successful in Baltimore, and did result in the failure to keep the peace, was there any issue that should have risen to inciting a riot.
Misguided attempts to placate and “understand” the motivations of the rioters, or the “lone wolf” raiders, are doomed to failure. The answer is a sufficiently draconian response that makes sure that the consequences of similar mischief will always and consistently be dealt with, swiftly and without second-guessing on the part of some de-facto civilian “review board”.

1. Obama didn't give them the guns. His peeps allowed them to be bought illegally then tracked them. It's called undercover work, and it's pretty much the only way to unravel criminal organizations.
2. You cannot simultaneously contend that easy access to guns in USA doesn't cause killings, and at the same time claim that these particular guns caused the murders in Mexico.
Do I think the gunrunning was a bad idea? Yes. But it didn't cause those people to be killed.
Anymore than the gift of a.45 to the idiot in Charleston caused the murder of those people.
There you have it: we can’t judge Muslims based on the actions of a few terrorists, but we can judge whites based on the actions of a few shooters.

It’s my understanding they weren’t tracked to any significant extent under Obama. They did under GWB’s program, but that was very limited. Of course when the program first hit the news, the local federal attorney blamed it on our lax gun laws.

South Africa is also relieved to know they get a pass for the genocide of white farmers in the north because they are not advanced.
