Ignores the fact that a great many liberals are wealthy.

Liberalism is in this country a conspiracy between the elite and the dregs of society against its middle.

courage: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty

brave: ready to face and endure danger or pain

Did he know going in that what he was doing was likely to involve danger, pain or difficulty? Assuming he was not bat-s*** crazy he no doubt did. That is, of course a big assumption.

If he did realize he faced danger and pain, then by definition what he did was courageous and brave.

Americans have this truly odd notion that courage and bravery can be shown only in a righteous cause, that somehow recognizing that evil people (unfortunately) often show these qualities is validating their actions.

I think this happens because we recognize courage as a virtue, and we think that recognizing our enemies as having any virtues at all somehow means we must stop opposing them as evil. Or that people focused on achieving evil goals by evil means are incapable of possessing any virtues at all.

Which is, frankly, really silly. It possibly springs from the notion that “bullies are always cowards,” which is ludicrous. Sadly, that notion is untrue. The world would be a much safer place if it were.

Competence and courage are not limited to those who fight for what we see as good causes. In total proof of this claim, I reference the Waffen SS. An evil organization dedicated to achieving evil goals using evil means.

Yet they were also one of the most competent and courageous fighting forces in history. Nobody who ever fought them claimed otherwise.

Bullies are NOT always cowards. Courage and dedication are not unique to “good people.”

Flying a plane loaded with innocent people into a building crowded with other innocents is an utterly evil thing to do. But being willing to die for your cause is also by definition a demonstration of supreme courage. Assuming sanity, which as stated is often a big assumption.

See definitions above. Would I use such terms to refer to people like the 9/11 hijackers or this idiot in Dallas? No, because it upsets people. But words mean what they mean, not what we want them to mean. A true statement is a true statement even if it upsets people.

Then call terrorists brave and courageous. your post contradicts itself. Say it and deal with the outcome that belief generates.

“They hate themselves for being white and i dont get it.”

People adopt whatever the perceived prevailing mood/thoughts are. This is the danger of the liberals controlling the media and practically all entertainment. These are the devices used to set the mood. A president could use the bully pulpit to counter this but Bush didn’t try and Obama is simply adding to the prevailing liberalism. We will probably never recover to what we were attitude-wise before 1960. (As far as America first and patriotism.) This is an excellent free audio book on Public Opinion, as fresh today as it was when written in 1922.

Are (some) terrorists brave and courageous? Of course.

Unless someone can point me to a definition of those words that excludes all terrorists.

Are ALL terrorists brave and courageous? Of course not.

Are many (most) terrorist actions by definition cowardly (planting bombs and sneaking away, hiding behind children and other human shields, etc.)? Asked and answered.

I am making a purely linguistic argument that words mean what they mean. Even when we don’t like it.

People might, perhaps, be willing to accept a less immediately emotional example. Most Indian tribes practiced a style of warfare that, according to our Declaration of Independence, was “an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.”

No matter how much it pisses off PC-types, that is just a historical fact.

So, were all American Indian warriors cowards? Were none of them brave and courageous?

Or, take another example, a quote from Churchill about Islam has been floating around the Web recently. “Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”

Churchill recognized, “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.”

But apparently he was also able to recognize that even fanatically dangerous Muslims could be, in fact usually were, brave and courageoous.

Your argument is sound from a literal standpoint. No question. But there are 2 issues.

1: you made the argument that X was the case, then made an excuse for not doing X. Thus reinforcing the very reason we don’t call terrorists brave and courageous.

2: Words now have fungible meanings. And for hundreds of years, the literal meanings have been altered in the common usage. Thus leftism’s success with how ‘Is’ is defined.

I’m thinking Stalin: “Give me your kids, and I’ll have them for life”, or words to that effect.

How long would she have lasted at CNN if she called the Ferguson or Texas cop brave?

Come on, we know many hate us. My niece works with a bunch of obama’s daughters and sons. One thought slavery still existed in 1930. They all love the phrase “white privilege” and even the white kids use the term. They hate themselves for being white and i dont get it.

70 years of post WWII propaganda from the media, Hollywood, Washington and the education system that teaches European ancestry is stupid and evil.

How did that happen. Men from Western Europe (Americans) defeated the Germans. they should have been praised. But communists have had a stronghold here for a long time, I guess. Much stronger than most ever though.
And they own the media. And the white house. And the Universities.
Cut student loans unless you are taking a major that you can actually get a job with.
Hot everyone needs to go to college.
