A 10-year-old girl who was airlifted from the Magic Mountain theme park in Valencia after riding a roller coaster Friday has died, the coroner’s office confirmed Monday morning.

“The Revolution... is a steel roller coaster manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf of Germany and designed by Werner Stengel. ... It opened on May 8, 1976 and was the world’s first modern roller coaster to feature a vertical loop.”

It was unclear if the girl’s loss of consciousness was ride-related or part of a pre-existing condition.
Oh, I'm sure the family's lawyer will be claiming the former in their multi-million dollar law suit.

There is a better than 50-50 chance that Magic Mountain will get sued. I hope I’m wrong, and I’ll admire the parents if they choose not to use their daughter’s death as a lottery ticket, but it seems like many of today’s Americans can’t resist free money in these situations.

It’s been 20+ years since I’ve been on The Revolution, but IIRC it is a very short ride. Noisy and fun, but not nearly as extreme as most modern steel coasters.

I’d say there is better than 95% chance. California Plaintiff lawyers are always looking for cases to squeeze money out of.

Screw Disney. They have been outsourcing jobs for years. They probably have some illegal doing the repairs on that coaster.

I worked at Tweetsie RR for several years and we had a child die on the train ride. The Indians ran through the car and he coded. He had a bad heart due to Downs. Freaked out the passengers though.

Very sad. I feel for the parents and family as well.

May Jesus welcome her into the Kingdom, and give comfort and strength to all to whom are touched by this.

I second that. Amen.

Brain issue? G-force can mess with pressures in the brain, I would think. (no pun intended).

Sounds like the girl had a pre-existing condition. If that coaster has been around since 1976 I bet over a million people have ridden it without losing consciousness and dying.

Pretty sure that Disney does not own Six Flags.

I don’t think Disney owns six flags.

You are probably thinking about Space Mountain, which is a coaster ride owned by Disney. This is Magic Mountain, a ride owned by Six Flags.

BTW, I hate amusement parks with a passion. All those lines, those crowds, and all that overpriced food and soda. And for what? So you can stand in line in the hot sun all day and maybe take a half dozen 90-second rides?

Used to take my kids there. I'd hand them some money and tell them to go have some fun and meet me at the pool section when they are done (or out of money). Then I'd sit by the pool and get into a good book.

Those rides aren't for me anyhow. I hate heights. And all that twisting and turning makes my stomach feel funny. Just give me a book to read, a place to sit by the water, some cold drinks, and I'll be just fine.

Sorry to hear about that girl. Those rides are pretty safe generally speaking but you are going to have unfortunate incidents from time to time.

It is not too fast and has ONE revolution. The poor little girl must have had something going on healthwise. Prayers for her family.
