White people have been reaping the rewards of appropriating black culture for years. At least Rachel Dolezal was doing it to educate others.
Theres been a lot of outrage directed at Rachel Dolezal, the civil rights activist recently outed for passing as a black woman. But some of us are scratching our heads trying to figure out why Dolezals particular case has evoked such anger when shes simply doing what has been standard in American culture for years: hijacking aspects of black culture, and black beauty in particular, reaping the rewards while black women with the same attributes rarely do.
According to reports, and accompanying photos, as part of her alleged fraud, Dolezal tanned her skin and braided her hair. So in other words shes like a zillion white female celebrities. Jennifer Aniston recently noted in an interview that she needed a tanning intervention to let go of her obsession with darkening herself. She is far from alone in Hollywood where spray tans have become as ubiquitous on red carpets as spanx....

Black Beauty? The horse?

"Mmmm hmmmmm!"
I don’t like corn rows in hair. They look like rope.
Also, I picked corn as a youth and their hairstyle is micro-aggressive. They should do more to consider my feelings.
This unfortunately is not satire. It is what passes for journalism these days......
Clothing is a social construct too but try telling that to men who want to dress up like women and claim they were “born that way”.

Scuse me for pointing out this blatant lie, but............Halle Berry, Lena Horne, Vanessa Williams, Dorothy Dandridge, Stacy Dash, Alicia Keys, etc, etc. All Black women who unarguably reap benefits of their White attributes. Not dismissing talent of any, but let's be honest they have features that are more in tune with Whites. Oh, Oh, I guess I must be a racist!

Black Like Me is a nonfiction book by journalist John Howard Griffin first published in 1961. Griffin was a white native of Dallas, Texas and the book describes his six-week experience travelling on Greyhound buses (occasionally hitchhiking) throughout the racially segregated states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia passing as a black man. Sepia Magazine financed the project in exchange for the right to print the account first as a series of articles.
Griffin kept a journal of his experiences; the 188-page diary was the genesis of the book.
At the time of the book’s writing in 1959, race relations in America were particularly strained and Griffin aimed to explain the difficulties that black people faced in certain areas. Under the care of a doctor, Griffin artificially darkened his skin to pass as a black man.
In 1964, a film version of Black Like Me starring James Whitmore was produced.[1]
Robert Bonazzi subsequently published the book Man in the Mirror: John Howard Griffin and the Story of Black Like Me.
The title of the book is taken from the last line of the Langston Hughes poem “Dream Variations”.
Laughable.
There are some assumptions here that appear to be more like smug wishful thinking.
Lame attempt by leftist media at a counterattack to recapture the narrative on this story. Exposes too much nuts in the liberal agenda.
It’s not going to work. Dolezal is too far out even for current culture. She’s going to have to (figuratively) burn.
absurd....black women hate white women, and we all know why. White women are cleaner...prettier,,,sexier..sorry, just the way it is.
lol
lets put this quacks theory to the test.
If this quack is correct... then when we do a Google search for “beautiful skin” and then look at the images... we should see mostly black, brown or tan white womens pictures..
lets see..
ROFL
Just the opposite.
95%+ of the pictures are of pale white girls with flawless skin.
The interest doesn’t lie. The truth is there for all to see, or wish to see it.
I’ve known some beautiful black women. Devout Christians, too. They may not get much time on TV, but they do exist. Take care of their families, too.
There was a honkie in the woodpile not far back in here genealogy.
Yes. My (white) hair is pretty much straight & I could just smack the jaws of any woman who has naturally curly hair when she starts griping about her curly hair!
Nice try Keli.
You’ll need to come up with a better back flip.
Very strange reply, I assume you are drinking.
