Bono was friends with Sen. Jesse Helms when he was considered a creature from the Republican Jurassic. He also credited Free Enterprise for lifting more people out of absolute poverty, than any other economic system.<p

Why is it presumed that musicians have something useful to contribute to political discussion? In days of old, the court musicians were relegated to the servant’s table, along with the court jesters and other “entertainers”.

Not enough for me. I can’t be bothered paying attention to any celebrities, even when they say something that sounds conservative. Somehow, our culture has arrived at a ridiculous state such that people seem to think that celebrity confers wisdom and/or knowledge.
