When I was 12 or 13 I started riding my horse all over what is now the western part of Houston. It was small homes on shell streets and open, unfenced land. Mother would tell me to be home by dark. A young girl out by herself today would not be safe, very sad what the world has become.
LOL! There are only a certain number of people that know what you mean by a “shell” street. And, yes, it is a sad world when you can’t let your kids roam freely.
reminds me of when my buddy and I went up north to go fishing.....we went north to Canada. nothing like crossing the mighty mac when you are 16 without parents permission and just leaving a note that we would be gone for a few days “fishin” Big mistake, turns out we caught fish but it rained all the time and it was cold and we perfectly timed the black fly hatch. We got eaten alive. Best and worst 4 days we had when we were kids. The border agents didnt even bat an eye at us.
When you say a young girl would not be safe outside today, you are just feeding into the paranoia. Child abductions are extremely rare and in most cases the abductions are by a family member, as result of a custody battle.
