LOL! There are only a certain number of people that know what you mean by a “shell” street. And, yes, it is a sad world when you can’t let your kids roam freely.
Yes many streets back then were oyster shells. I was at a nursery looking at plants in the West U part o Houston. Some people were looking at the shells that were coming up into the asphalt that had been poured on top of them. They were trying to understand how a formation like that had occurred.
I used that famous old line “yur not from around here are Ya?”
Then I explained it to them. LOL!
