In theory PTA offers US trade advantages, in practice it never happens.
Has Obama done anything that is good for America and Americans? If not, why would he start now? I’m in favor of smaller trade agreements and letting the public in on them while they’re being negotiated. I see no need for secrecy, especially from “the most transparent administration ever.”
We have negotiated away our sovereignty and control over our own shores with the GATT and other agreements. We get taken to a foreign court and we seem to always lose. Then per the agreement our trading partners get to punish us until we comply.
I read where Bonehead personally recruited Cruz, to help Lyin Ryan write this *Op-Ed*.
TPA reduces Congress’ power over trade.
So, this is a lie from the headline.
Yes, Paul Ryan and Ted Cruz conspired to LIE to you.
Cruz told us that TPA contained dangerous immigration powers and that he could not vote for it.
Cruz offered an amendment to “fix” the dangerous immigration powers.
Cruz’s amendment failed to win support.
So, Cruz voted for TPA anyway.
Cruz supporters can try to spin and obfuscate. They can try to shift the focus to other candidates.
But the fact remains that Ted Cruz sold us out and went back on his own word.
That does not mean I would not support Cruz for POTUS. But it certainly means he will not get my support for the nomination.
Paul and Ted, thank you for taking time out of your busy privileged day to make the case for the TPP / TPA trade agreement to we little people.
Funny how you and your fellow elites refused to do that before the vote on your secret trade scheme that would cede national sovereign control over immigration and pharmaceutical regulation to foreign governments and multinational corporations.
You should know you are duty bound to disclose all details of legislation / trade agreements that you vote for, (except those rare ones critical to national security).
After this last disgraceful move you made to pass-the-bill-in-order-to-find-whats-in-it, you republicans that voted for TPP / TPA, have breached our trust.
You no longer serve our interests, and no longer deserve to be in office.

Cruz seems to be doubling down.
I understand the bill has some good stuff, but any “process” which gives the POTUS an advantage, an opportunity to continue his nefarious work deconstructing the nation, must not pass. I do not, Americans do not trust him, not a bit. Save it for 2017.
The House should never authorize the formation of a new international commission that will regulate not only trade, but immigration, labor, environmental, and all manner of commercial policy.
None of us voted last year for this kind of legislation. It’s about time our Congress put the country’s own citizens ahead of their own greed.
Listening to these guys prognosticate about how good it is going to be when this pile of secret horsepuckey is adopted/passed, or whatever new procedure they want to use to ram it down our throats, is laughable. If it is so great then why the heck can’t we see it?
I was with Cruz but now he can pound sand. I don’t care how smart he is, or whether he truly believes this is a great trade path forward. It is aiding and abetting the serial liar that is currently POTUS, and that alone should be enough to sh-tcan it.
Congress has repeatedly failed to act to make Obama accountable on any issue. Cruz is either tone deaf or insincere if he can justify any act that gives any authority to the office of the president.
The democrats are so much more politically astute as to get all the credit for stopping the deal and then making the republicans responsible for it’s complete failure when it passes.
The republicans had the same potential with Obamacare, but were sold out by their leadership. Pelosi screws Bohner again!
The Senate version of TPA includes TAA which cuts an additional $750,000,000 from Medicare on top of the $500,000,000 Democrats cut from Medicare to pay for Obamacare.
Medicare is already underfunded and the underfunding gets worse as the babyboomers turn 65.
A vote for TPA with TAA included is a vote against Medicare. It also gives Democrats cover for the Obamacare cuts to Medicare.
TPA should not pass until TAA is removed.
CRITICAL error by Cruz on this. Getting the stench of Paul Ryan on him will take a tremendous amount of effort to wash off.
He needs to quickly and distinctly elaborate to conservatives what in the hell he is doing here.
I’ll stick with Sessions, who does not have an election agenda and a need to appeal to big donors. An advantage of coming from a small state.
This issue is very simple to understand. If Obama is for it, then it is certainly bad for America. All you need to know.
Right. Vote for a Senator. If Cruz really wanted to be President, he should have started by publically resigning from and repudiating that sewer.
This looks like it explains the trade deals better than anything else but unfortunately, you can’t read the whole thing without subscribing to WSJ! Guess I’ll have to keep looking for better explanations somewhere else.
